Well, surprise, surprise: The Norwegian Nobel committee has decided to award the 2019 peace prize to someone who at least worked on promoting actual .... peace.
Here's the johnny-on-the-spot Guardian, which sets such store by such awards:
"The Norwegian Nobel committee has decided to award the Nobel peace prize for 2019 to Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed’s efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation and for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea."
Apparently, they'd been ripping each others' heads off and he put a stop to it. In some purviews, that's called making peace.
Which stands in stark contrast to the hype surrounding young Greta Thunberg, the Swedish-backed Nobel peace prize favorite, who made headlines with her global warming tantrums, including a bratty, insolent, and almost comically melodramatic speech at the United Nations claiming we had all stolen her dreams at the United Nations. She knew nothing about her topic, but she was very, very certain about it. And more to the point, she was famous only because she was backed by a cabal of corporate green hucksters intent on making a market killing instead of some kid standing on a soapbox yelling which is what she'd be otherwise. She's now having the time of her life on an around-the-world tour, taking in the rainforest among other things, which is every bored Swedish teenager's dream.
No wonder most Swedes are just a little skeptical about Thunberg's rock-certain claims about climate change.

Obama had a brilliant record of accomplishment as a US Senator that earned him the Nobel Peace Prize.
Unfortunately, his accomplishments were top secret, so nobody knows what they were. ;-)
These people are absolutely infuriating. They get in your face hostile claiming to know everything about a subject but in truth know nothing. I once had an intense conversation with a German woman about Nazis. I told her Hitler was elected Chancellor by the German people. She said he overthrew the government in a Coup to become Chancellor. I finally said in despair “Do you even know what Nazi stands for?” She didn’t. Had no idea.
His votes to abstain were critical to the furthering of world peace.
Greta is only 16. See if she makes a career out of global warming activism. If she does, she will win the Peace prize in some future year. I think the voters, who apparently vote in secret, decided that she shouldn’t get it this year. But they may well give her that award down the road.
Her childhood is once again shattered.
greta quit school, got a free ride on a yacht, yelled and wept in an auditorium, and will get book deals, tv appearances, and free college tuition.
Now tell me why greta deserved the peace prize?
