Dallas police said Tuesday afternoon a man was arrested in the murder of Joshua Brown, a key witness in the Amber Guyger murder trial, and two other suspects were on the run.
Brown, 28, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in a parking lot about four miles from the apartment where Botham Jean was gunned down.
In that case, which attracted national attention, Guyger, a former police officer, was convicted of Jean's murder and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Assistant Chief Avery Moore said three suspects Jacquerious Mitchell, 20; Michael Mitchell, 32; and Thaddeous Green, 22 were from Alexandria, Louisiana, and investigators believed they were in Dallas to buy drugs from Brown. Green allegedly shot Brown two times following a heated argument.
Police said Michael Mitchell was the uncle of Jacquerious Mitchell and Jacquerious whom they arrested was in a Dallas hospital in critical condition. Neither Michael Mitchell nor Green was in custody Tuesday afternoon.
Even though an attorney representing Brown's family previously said Brown had reservations about testifying in the high-profile Guyger trial, Moore said Brown's killing had nothing to do with the case.

Quick resolution when it’s high profile.
I read earlier where the mayor of Dallas made an appeal to the public not to speculate on this murder. Yeah right. As if anyone didnt know what was going on.
Well they know it now.
I wonder if her lawyer will use this to request a new trial.
What are you babbling about?
Seemingly, a bad choice of apartments on Ms. Guyger’s part.
No mention of WHY the suspect is in critical condition? Seems that would be an important fact, no?
Amazing how during the trial, they packaged Brown as a geek, wearing an anime "dragonball z" shirt. I'm surprised they didn't cover his tattoos to make his transition from drug dealer to geek more believable.
Im surprised Jacquerious isnt a nuclear physicist...
People are complicated sometimes. Just look at this case:
A lady copy who fools around with her married partner.
A Christian accountant who smokes weed (?).
A college graduate who manages Airbnb’s (?) and sells weed on the side.
Other articles say the suspect in the hospital was shot by Brown (the witness).
Of course, that’s one side of the story. Who really knows at this point...
Wondering why 3 guys had to drive 4-5 hours (?) from Louisiana to Dallas, TX, to score some weed. No dealers where they live?
They figured out his real name and residence, and decided to get even for that kilo of powdered milk he sold them last spring.
Thats what I heard on the street, anyways.
If true, that would explain why he tried to leave Texas and escape testifying. And why he was so worried that people might be out to get him.
Brown had some really good s***.
Oh hell they are Obama twins. Who would have thunkk it.
I was shocked. Obviously teens.
They must be each 14 years old. /Liberal media spin
I didn’t think it was a revenge killing. The Guyger shooting was a bad shoot that no cop could defend it.
He's a particle physicist. He studies interactions in the color force.
Neither did I. At least, it seemed unlikely to be a revenge killing by the police.
Also, yesterday one of the talking heads interviewed a LE who stated that Brown got a Fake book msg of "Now we know where you are" after his court appearance.
