She and Bernie had the majority of energy among the progressive base of the Democrat primary voters. With Bernie’s health issues, she will pick up some of his support among younger voters. Older voters might gravitate to Biden.

I think Warren would be a formidable general election candidate, because of the enthusiasm among the base. An enthusiastic base volunteers. That is what doomed Hillary. There was no enthusiasm among Democrats for her.

The best thing that could happen is a bruising battle between Warren and Biden, and a weakened Biden emerging as the nominee, along with Tulsi Gabbard running on the Green Party ticket.

Showalter does allude to a problem that will be Warren's biggest challenge: Minority voters who make up a big chunk of the Democrat base have no enthusiasm for her.

If Warren is the Democratic Party nominee, I would not be shocked to see Trump get close to 50% of the vote among black men.

She’s an arrogant, privileged, academic Marxist, and I don’t think she’ll generate much popular support. The Dem base can do all it wants but unless blacks vote for her, she’s out of luck. And I don’t think they will.
