No Judges Confirmed This Week (none since September 11th)

Posted on 10/05/2019 3:58:30 AM PDT by cotton1706

This will be a weekly post.

Count remains at 150 judges confirmed.

105 District Court judges

43 Circuit Court judges

2 Supreme Court justices

Mitch is dragging his feet again. I gave him a break because he was getting a lot of executive positions confirmed.

But since confirming the six nominees on September 11th (the six that SHOULD HAVE been confirmed in JUNE before the recess), there have been no further confirmations.

My guess is that the Mitt Romney types are using impeachment to try to slow the conservative judicial juggernaut, with the retiring and anti-Trump senators helping him (Alexander, Enzi, Isaacson, Roberts, Sasse, etc.).

We're watching, Mitch! You're up for re-election next year!

Is the hang up Mitch or are they being held up by Lindsey and the judicial committee? I still have reservations about Lindsey.

I finally found a site that delineates the progress of Judicial nominees. For all interested in one more source: https://www.acslaw.org/judicial-nominations/on-the-bench/

“As of September 26, there are 110 Article III vacancies, 97 of which are current. Once the 19 remaining recess nominees are officially nominated, there will be 55 pending nominees: 16 waiting for floor votes, 15 waiting to be reported out of Committee, and 24 waiting for Senate Judiciary Committee hearings”

Thanks Cotton. I appreciate the information and the tolling of each week. With all these vacations & political turmoil it is a frustratingly slow process. I am not alone in commenting on twitter at “Senatecloakroom” about the lack of Judicial nominees. The Country can ill afford to lose momentum in filling these positions.

We’ll, that answers my question. I’m sending an email to Mitch. He needs to go! Thank you for keeping us up-to-date on this.

Do you have a less biased source than the one I used to √ the numbers on waiting for floor vote/judicial committee etc? I didn't know what kind of an organization acslaw is until I subsequently poked around a bit and found their impeachment resource section with special contact people for all the phony impeachment pretexts to assail President Trump. With a name like American Constitution Society..talk about your wolves in sheep's clothing.

I simply use wikipedia.

I believe this is the official list:

That is my main go to list but it doesn’t do several things that the new link does. I watch for judicial nominations at https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/

www.uscourts.gov doesn’t list all of the current nominees. When nominations are posted by the White House they are sometimes reflected promptly @ https://www.uscourts.gov/judges-judgeships/judicial-vacancies/current-judicial-vacancies but other times not for a month or more. Since some are listed within 24hrs it doesn’t seem that passing senate judicial committee approval is the limiting factor for being listed at uscourts.gov.

At uscourts.gov there is no information on where nominees are in the process. Are their nominations still undergoing judicial review? Are they ready to be voted on the Senate floor?

We get a better handle on that from the new two links.
