A major scientific paper, which claimed to have found rapid warming in the oceans as a result of manmade global warming, has been withdrawn after an amateur climate scientist found major errors in its statistical methodology.
The paper, from a team led by Laure Resplandy of Princeton University, had received widespread uncritical publicity in the mainstream media when it was published because of its apparently alarming implications for the planet. However, within days of its publication in October 2018, independent scientist Nic Lewis found several serious flaws.
When it comes to statistical methodology or properly researched and thoughtful questions and analysis, nah, that really doesn’t play with the friendly neighbourhood media, doesn’t it?
Someone should tell (climate activist Greta Thunberg)
One of the biggest problems in science is that the editors and editorial boards of lots of major journals are compromised by ‘connections’ and fear of ‘celebrity’ scientists. Further, it’s more important to them that they have ‘exciting’ science than good/accurate science. Science and Nature are two of the most visible journals with this problem.
Interferes with their righteous indignation schtick, which is all they have left.
YouTube Must Watch !! Dr Willie Soon demolishes extreme weather panic and other hysterical climate arguments.
I have a BS in Biology and I was schooled before the ‘agenda science’ became a thing.
The ‘scientific method’ is HARD, it demands principled observation, formulation of theory and then an eager willingness to self falsify any lacking theory to allow you to move on the the next, more perfect theory.
These people are ‘research grant whores’.
And the ironic/funny part is we are entering a cooler period which will be problematic food resource wise.
“major errors in its statistical methodology.”
The basis of Climate Change theory.
Oh did the Climate Scientist make a boo boo? Like an innocent (on purpose) mistake that favors the Liberal Narrative? What are the chances of that? Just a coincidence I’m sure.
Maybe Greta can salvage what’s left of her childhood now.
Scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, analyzed satellite and direct ocean temperature data from 2005 to 2013 and found the ocean abyss below 1.24 miles (1,995 meters) has not warmed measurably.
They all know each other, and there is great mutual backscratching taking the place of critical evaluation.
"Great, another fainter."

“...an amateur climate scientist found major errors in its statistical methodology.”
Howls, Bruce. Howls of derisive laughter.
“The paper, from a team led by Laure Resplandy of Princeton University”
Lie down on the ground, Laure. We’re going to file past and spit on you as we go by.
What does Bill Nye the science guy say?
The science is settled. We have 11 ears left for the planet. So why do they keep funding new research? Let’s just put that money towards something useful...like an 11 year goodbye earth blowout party.
It likely made the nightly news when the study came out but will be nothing but crickets when the retraction comes.
Oh that will buff right out. :)
It is not that they lie to us, but that they don't bother to craft GOOD lies.
(Me Too) ... and as you pointed out, they are missing a far greater threat that does have much better data!
