The State Departments inspector general is expected to brief staffers from several House and Senate committees on Wednesday afternoon about documents obtained from the departments Office of the Legal Adviser concerning documents related to the State Department and Ukraine, sources familiar with the planned briefing told ABC News.
Details of the briefing, expected to be conducted by Steve Linick, the inspector general at State, remain unknown. Linick is expected to meet with congressional staff in a secure location on Capitol Hill.
The unusual nature and timing during a congressional recess of the briefing suggest it may be connected to a recent intelligence community whistleblower allegation which describes, in part, the State Departments role in coordinating interactions between Rudy Giuliani, the presidents personal attorney, and Ukrainian officials.

You guys have it all wrong. The press conference is to announce they found where the missing $87 billion dollars went that they couldnt until now account for!
Kevin has a blond problem in North Carolina, if I recall correctly.
He would not be doing this without Pompeos permission
independent office within the U.S. Department of State
“”Steve A. Linick serves as the Inspector General of the Department of State””
Just one of several useless bureaucrats but that’s an oxymoron, I guess... They are all as useless as - you know the rest! Investigate (??), write a report and go take a nap or a vacation until you’re needed again to investigate (??), and write a report. Try not to do the job too well or you may get fired as obozo did to Gerald Walpin years ago.
Giuliani has the goods on the gubmint mafia family and so must be silenced at all costs. Pray he has good body guards. Barr too.
This is from ABC, fake news denizen, the basics are likely true, there’s going to be a briefing by the guy named. The rest of it was just an opinion and should be ignored. None of us, or the reporter knows the content of the briefing claiming its about anything is speculative, meaningless drivel.

In a press release issued late Monday, the intelligence community inspector general admitted it changed its policy and its whistleblower form after an anti-Trump complainant alleged that Trump broke the law during a phone call with the Ukrainian president.

I hope you folks didn’t fall for the 2 weeks recess BS like Rush did! The evil bastards are behind close doors strategizing their next move! They want to beat trump to the punch before Barr gets back!
That is my first take. It would be a direct betrayal of Pompeo, and you don't telegraph such betrayals. Pompeo likely knows what this is about.
Rudy stated on Hannity that he gathered all his proof before the Mueller Report was even finished.
Not certain that he the IG works under the SecState authority. I think the Inspectors General Act makes the IG’s answerable to Congress, not the Agency head.
I think they have the goods on HELLARY and her minions in the State Department who joined forces with the FBI, and CIA to spy on the Trump campaign!!!
Exactly. They are just printing their fantasy here. Just like all the fantasies they printed about Flynn, Cohen, Manafort, Stone, Gates, The Great Pumpkin ....
Rudy saying he got info before Mueller Report was done.
Why not? ICIG Atkinson went against DNI Maguire. IG is police, watchdog, antagonist looking for trouble in the department. IG has latitude to choose loyalties. I think the better assumption, just playing the odds, is this is a hit job against Trump, maybe against Trump and Pompeo.
CNNs take
Congressional sources tell CNN that the inspector general is expected to brief committee staff from House Foreign Affairs, Senate Foreign Relations, House and Senate Appropriations, House Oversight, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and both House and Senate intelligence committees. The briefing will be held in a secure meeting room in the Capitol.
The offer for documents came roughly an hour after Secretary of State Mike Pompeos strongly worded letter pushing back against the Democrats scheduled depositions of state officials and subpoena for documents, sources said.
I don’t trust anyone from the State Dept.
And they are attempting to do so at warp speed.
