By: Sam LaGrone September 27, 2019 6:24 PM
The commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 2 has been removed from command due to a loss of confidence by the commander of U.S. 2nd Fleet, service officials told USNI News.
Rear Adm. Erik Ross, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG-2), was relieved of his duties by Vice Adm. Andrew Lewis, commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet (C2F), due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command, reads a statement from the command.
Ross was involved in an alleged off-duty incident that prompted Lewis decision and an investigation by the command that is now ongoing, according to a service spokesperson.
Capt. Darren Nelson, ESG-2 Chief of Staff, has assumed responsibilities of commander until a permanent relief is assigned. Ross has been temporarily reassigned to C2F, pending the completion of an investigation, reads the statement.
Ross is a career surface officer with commands that included amphibious ships USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41) from 2006 to 2007 and USS Bataan (LHD-5) from 2011 to 2013.
He took command of the Joint Expeditionary BaseLittle Creek, Va.-based command in July. Previous to the role, Ross served President of the Board of Inspection and Survey from June 2017 to May 2019.

Usually with their pants off.................

Gee. What on earth could that "off-duty incident" possibly be? I just can't for the life of me figure that out.

Good chance there was a babe involved in this.
"I was exercising command and control of Expeditionary Strike Force 2 in conformance with Naval processes and procedures...with my pants off..."
Rear-Admiral?
Or a boy
Friday’s announcement could signal that the Navy is once again announcing when senior leaders are relieved of command, which had been a longstanding tradition until former Chief of Naval Operations John Richardson’s tenure. Richardson retired in August and was replaced by current Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michael Gilday.
Hi.
What was the UCMJ law broken? Is there an Article 32 hearing?

When I was in we had two officers disappear from our unit’s command one morning they just didn’t show up.
later we found out they had both been ‘reassigned’ because one of them was having an affair with the other one’s wife......................
At that level, these things are usually hushed up, especially if it involves sex.............
These days it would not surprise me if it was a hunk he was involved with.
Take any Chinese Fortune Cookie fortune and add the words: “Under the covers”.................
I know nothing about this situation BUT, I have to wonder if the radical leftists might be trying to frame good guy patriots just like they have tried on Trump. Not ready to jump on board saying this is A-OK until more is known.
Bad guys do bad, and it is getting worse by he day.
For a while there it looked like Obama was conducting a major purge... maybe they decided that looked awkward and suspicious.
Hi.
You’re probably correct.
