en. Ted Cruz sounds ready to run for president again – in 2024.

Speaking to The Monitor after a breakfast session with reporters, the Texas Republican didn’t hesitate when asked if he would take another crack at the White House.

“Look, I hope to run again,” said Senator Cruz, who was the runner-up last time to Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination. “We came very, very close in 2016. And it’s the most fun I’ve ever had in my life.”

There was a time when the ‘natural born’ requirement was taught in public education. The founders in their wisdom gave US citizen parents the power and authority to bequeath ‘natural born’ US citizenship. Born in the USA is part of the requirement. I was born on German soil to two US citizen parents, and have known since the 8th grade I am not an US ‘natural born’ citizen. My ‘certificate’ came from the State Department. The depraved minds in the business of the law are in the process of shredding our Constitution. The depravity is on both sides of the political spectrum.

People born in one of the United States to U.S. citizen parents can prove that they have at least a one generation “buffer” between them and “the old country”, whatever foreign country that may be. Accordingly, the U.S.A. has the paramount claim to their loyalty and fidelity. With respect to any given one of them, if ever an international legal dispute arose as to which country’s armed forces such a person could or should be forced to serve in, the U.S.A. would win in a rout. As opposed to every other type of U.S. citizen (the late Senator John McCain included), no federal law, statutory or constitutional, exists or has ever been passed or enacted establishing, declaring or defining their citizenship status. And why would we ever need such a law? They represent the true raw material, the purest constitutive element, of our national polity. Some 70 percent of current U.S. citizens are the countrymen of which prominent New York lawyer John Jay was speaking when he wrote his famous letter to Constitutional Convention president George Washington in 1788 (”Permit me to hint...”) warning him that the role of Commander in Chief of the U.S. armed forces should never devolve upon anyone other than a natural-Born Citizen. Surely it is not that burdensome a restriction on us to be obliged by constitutional law to select our federal president every four years from among their number, and their number only. Let all ineligible would-be POTUS candidates wail and gnash their teeth in the murky outer darkness. We do not know where you are from. You are not and never were invited to this, our quadrennial national wedding feast.

Sheesh. We’re not even through the first term and Cruz is already measuring for new drapes.

First he needs to quit hiding behind his beard of shame, and if asked to speak at the next convention, to make damn sure it's an endorsement of President Trump.

Cruz will do as good as Delblasio if he runs for president again...he had his chance to get it right, and he wasn’t capable.

Sorry L&L—I meant to say 1787 (the year of the framers’ convention in Philadelphia), not 1788 (the year when most of the state ratifying conventions were held).

I will definitely vote for Cruz in 2024.

Fascinated by how nothing unites FR more than Cruz hate.

Cruz is conservative

Yeh, for sure. I’m a Texan, born and bred as we say down here. And, I will continue to support Cruz as Senator. Having said that, I don’t particularly like him. But, I Way past junior high popularity contests. I voted for Trump and will do so again. I’m all about substance over still and not vise versa...

Nominating Cruz would be an exercise in futility.
Democrats may elect an ineligible usurper, but Republicans never will.

Cruz is Constitutionally suitable to run for office. His birth in Canada does not disqualify him to run for President.

The reactionaries had multiple court venues to prove this point wrong in 2016 and failed every time.

I am delighted to have him as my senator and will be delighted to have him as President in 2025.

Millions of us will not vote for an ineligible candidate, have at it if you want to lose.

Natural born citizens are NATURALLY citizens because they have ONE nationality and cannot be anything else.

Cruz was still a Canadian citizen until 2014.

As my dear Mother told me when I was young, “some people are so smart, they’re stupid”.

Ted, do your Job in the Senate. You nearly lost your Seat to a crazy America hating SOB in the great State of Texas.

Learn from History, don’t repeat it.
