The New York Times reported Friday that the wave of worldwide protests against climate change is partly being paid for by the Climate Emergency Fund, which is funded by a mega-wealthy trio that includes “the Kennedys and the Gettys.”
The co-founders are Trevor Neilson, Rory Kennedy, and Aileen Getty — whose family fortune, ironically, was made in the oil business. Their money funds protests staged by “Extinction Rebellion” and other groups, the Times notes:
Since its founding in July, the Climate Emergency Fund has distributed grants, (some as small as $2,000) to dozens of groups, including 350.org and others tied to the youth climate strikes last week. Extinction Rebellion has chapters around the world and has brought intense attention to climate change through disruptive protests in London in April, and subsequent protests in Los Angeles, New York City and elsewhere. It got a pledge of $350,000.
All three are residents of Malibu, California, one of the wealthiest communities in the United States — though the three portray themselves as victims of climate change, since their property was threatened by last year’s wildfires.

California has had brush fires as long as there has been human settlement there. It’s a fire prone area. The fact that these fires happened before global warming became a cause celebre of the liberals, is never mentioned.
Ditto with hurricanes and tornadoes and floods. These have happened since time immemorial, but the liberals make it sound as if we never experienced these calamaties before the global warming era.

How to find out they’re not serious.
Offer them a low-balled reverse mortgage set to be fulfilled in 12 year’s time. They’ll never accept it because that would be admitting their property won’t be worthless due to climate change.
What about before umans f’d it all up? No fires? LOL! Ask some ecowanker what was growing before the giant redwoods. Results= drooling distant stare due to synapse interupt. Or for a full out head poppin’ response:
1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.
2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.
3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.
4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.
5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.
6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.
7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.

True, but I think there’s a fair amount of deflection involved. Getty, especially, is tied to fossil fuel money and no doubt feels a misplaced sense of guilt or just wants to be invited to more Hollyweird parties.
