Iran is now using advanced centrifuge models to enrich uranium

Iran is using advanced models of centrifuges to enrich uranium, President Hasan Rouhani confirmed today. The move marks another breach of the 2015 nuclear agreement which lifted economic sanctions against Iran in exchange for strict limits on the country's nuclear program. In 2018, President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) -- a move which Iran says nullified its own obligations. Trump has since reinstated sanctions on Iran. Iran has already taken steps that are in breach of the landmark deal. It started increasing uranium enrichment beyond the purity threshold it originally agreed to, and has increased stockpiles of low-enriched uranium above the deal's limits.

let’s wait till they test the bomb on an ICBM and then get serious

Which tells me that it won’t be long before the Democrat Party has nukes. O’Bamma had to have made some sort of deal with the Iranians with all the money he gave them.

Germany and Italy supplied them in the 90s up until around 2008 and then Russia... France had a hand selling too.

So Iran is extra enriching uranium for why?

(good thing ValJar/BHO had a plan to delay that a little bit)

I am going to go opposite stance of all the panty wetters I see here.

We need to get out of the proliferation prevention game. It is yet another gambit to keep the USA (us!) at war, or rumors of war, or threats, etc.

Atomic technology has now been in the public knowledge domain since 1945. Additionally, Uranium is actually one of the most abundant elements on earth (contrary to what we knew in the 40’s in the Manhattan project).

Keeping a lid on this technology forever is absolutely impossible. Precision engineered equipment is also getting to the size that terrorist can enrich uranium themselves!

We simply can’t pursue it all.

Our best bet is to make it too hard to get one on US soil, ICBM, shipping container or otherwise. That doesn’t mean pre-emptively bomb the hell out of anyone building a nuke, but it means designing hardware that can sniff these things out.

And if you think this is scary news? Look up “nuclear isomers”. Yes, in the next few decades there could be a breakthrough that allows someone to light off a fusion weapon without a fission stage. That will be utterly undetectable, unless the isomers leak excessively.

The Tsar Bomba was the cleanest detonation of a fusion weapon on earth to date. It did not rely on a U238 fast fission tamp to generate it’s power. The weapon was a fission initiated fusion MONSTER. Now imagine that, 50MT, and no fission weapon signature to give it away arriving in port.

You guys keep crying about Iran’s nuclear game. It is all posturing, bluffing, and attempt to drum up “yet another useless war”. Read the physics of the matter, not the politics. It’s more deep state bluster to spend more money and blood.

Well, for starters we don’t HELP Iran get nuclear weapons, ya think ?!!!!

Uh no we need to do more than NOT help them. They are religious fanatics we have a moral obligation to make sure they don’t have weapons of mass destruction.

His plan is heading to fruition.

He’s just a little disappointed the JCPOA didn’t survive as long as he hoped. He hoped the Euroweenies and the United Nations would get to keep the idiotic fraud of a plan going.

Of course, the Euroweenies and the United Nations still think the JCPOA was a good thing.

Iran is marching forward. As we all knew they would.

Somehow Iran is going to survive to make Ezekiel 38 a reality. I don’t presume to know the day and the hour. Only that it will happen because it is prophesied in Ezekiel 38.

No problems. Barry Soetero said Iran would never create a nuke. He said so and we must believe the worldly messia, ‘SI SI SE PUEDE, OBAMA OBAMA WE ARE ALL OSAMA!”

Iran is now using advanced centrifuge models to enrich uranium

I have questions for Nuclear Engineers;

What percentage of uranium enrichment is required to power a nuclear powered electrical generator.

What percentage of uranium enrichment is required for weapons grade uranium?

What percentage has Iran achieved so far?

A couple of inaccuracies in your statement.
Actually, the cleanest detonation was USA “Navajo” test
95% Fusion, 4.5MT

Tsar Bomb was detonated at 13,000 feet so the fireball wouldn’t touch the ground and cause fallout.

There is a shortage of U235 isotope, not U238.

True the basic fundamentals of how nuclear weapons work have been public since ‘50’s.
The more advanced concepts which make ICBM’s possible have only leaked out fairly recently do to Chinese spying.

Neutron generator as initiator.
W88 warhead design.

The detonation safety is still secret. How it works is not.
It is also very difficult to produce Plutonium U239 without a high concentration of U240, 41 and 42
Reentry vehicle design and targeting is also still top secret.

U238 can be bred to plutonium in a PWR or BWR reactor. All of this is open source material.

CANDU reactors will burn 99.3%/.7% U238/U235 “dirt” mixture just fine. So will a graphite reactor. You can bread plutonium just by sustaining a criticality in such a fuel mixture for an extended amount of time (like in a BWR or PWR power reactor). Our first reactor under Chicago stadium was run on some metal, and some pitchblend, none of the metal was enriched! Granted, that reactor was not a hot rod, it could achieve criticality.

Plutonium is EASILY separated from spent fuel from a reactor with the fuel loading as above (natural). It’s a chemical process!

As a matter of fact, that is one of the big fears, you can chemically separate Plutonium from the fuel load. It’s the reason no one wants any country to have nuclear power at all. You start a power reaction, and when the U235 is depleted at the end of the cycle, you have now plutonium stock available. It is the reason the British chose the plutonium path to nuclear power, rather than enriching U235. Only the USA at the time of WW2 attempted U235 enrichment path. It was big and expensive, and only we could afford it.

And you are wrong on Tsar Bomba as well. By simple economics of the reaction result, 50MT is more than an a order magnitude higher than the Navajo test. If you check the open source records, you can see that T.B. is considered the cleanest fusion weapon ever created by man. The elevation it was ignited at is unimportant to determining reaction cleanliness.

Finally, do you think a terrorist cares about the safety? If it won’t go off till it hits the target, they will take the risk. Our initial plutonium weapons were VERY susceptible neutron cookoff if a shooting war started. Do you seriously think a terrorist cares about that? They just want the big boom, and they will risk everything to get that in the right place, even if it means they die in a blast in-route to their target.
