Referee Shot with Cannon During Maine Maritime Football Game

A Maine Maritime Academy alumnus could be facing criminal charges for accidentally shooting a referee with a cannon during a MMA football game.

But according to Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, a fan at the game, a Maine Maritime alumni, had brought his own cannon which was filled with “black powder” and a substance described as a “wad,” according to a report by News Center Maine.

Never thought to bring my own cannon to a football game.

A rival school in Louisiana, the Rebels, had cannons they would fire everytime they made a touchtown. But they didn’t fire real cannonballs, they fired confetti.

So before this, it was perfectly fine for fans to bring cannons to the game?
