More than 2 million residents of Zimbabwes capital on Tuesday were left without drinking water after authorities shut down the main treatment plant, further worsening a region beset by economic instability and drought.
Tuesdays shutoff comes as the country is still reeling from the worst cholera outbreak in a decade. Meanwhile, water levels in polluted reservoirs have dropped because of drought.
Officials in Harare have struggled to raise the necessary $2.7 million in foreign currency needed to import water treatment chemicals.
City Council spokesman Michael Chideme said everyone living in Harare is affected and that some residents have turned to other options, such as bottled water.

What brand of filters do you recommend?
I don’t even know what I have; bought them many years ago. Will need to look. There’s bound to be much better stuff available now. One pump I have can handle many gallons of dirty water before changing filters.

I have a WaterBOB emergency water storage container that does just that. It even has a pump attached.

Given how much many have stolen, $2.7 million wouldn’t be much for a lot of them to come up with out of love for their “black brothers.”
It is a really good thing that the Rhodesian regime was defeated...imagine how bad things might be otherwise.
