Thomas Cook (TCG.L), the worlds oldest travel firm, collapsed on Monday, stranding hundreds of thousands of holidaymakers around the globe and sparking the largest peacetime repatriation effort in British history.
Chief Executive Peter Fankhauser said it was a matter of profound regret that the company had gone out of business after it failed to secure a rescue package from its lenders.
The UKs Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said Thomas Cook had now ceased trading and the regulator and government would work together to bring the more than 150,000 British customers home over the next two weeks.

So it was a well known fact that the company was on the brink of collapse?
If you are planning a visit and want to be free of Muslims, head to Poland
Wroclaw was destroyed in the war. Why are you recommending it as a tourist destination? I’ve been there a few times. Certainly not worth an excursion. Although, it is probably the best spot in Poland to practice your German.
Or the Panorama Racławicka
Actually I hear more spanish there rather than German - in Poznan and Szczecin there's a lot more German - around that area you also have German auto factories.
Though of course you can skip Wrocław - I personally prefer Toruń to both Wrocław and Kraków, or even lovelier the Bieszczady mountains
Good to hear that you got to Cornwall - not on the usual well-trodden tourist circuit for US visitors, not many penetrate that far SW. Though why you should be ‘fearful’ of Cornwall - unless it was fear of the rip-off cream teas and duff pasties - I can’t imagine.
First of all, Thomas Cook got undercut by British holiday travelers using the Internet to book vacation trips "a la carte" using low-cost European airlines such as Ryanair and EasyJet. And the unstable political situations in Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia didn't help the company, either. And Thomas Cook couldn't compete against the very well-funded TUI Group (based in Germany), who owns many travel properties like hotels and cruise lines and also serve vacationers from Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, and so on. (TUI has a very successful international travel business from Europe to the eastern USA.)
Like Monarch Airlines, Thomas Cook ran up too much debt and didn't have the resources to take on the competition.
Mostly fearful in France - but we were fine.
I wasn’t really impressed with the pastries, though. We ended up visiting the grocery and grabbing fruit and cheese.
Coffee, now that was a big adjustment.
Their government has been so busy trying to block Brexit, frustrate their PM Boris Johnson, hate Trump, and muck around in the Prince Andrew and Meghan Markle debacles that they didn’t even notice the need to forestall this crisis, which had been talked about in the media in advance, and had been in discussion with UK’s financial community for some time. Globalists literally do not mind their own business.

[and if youre not at your table spot on seven you miss your bowl of Campbells Cream of Mushroom soup, the first item on the menu of International Cuisine]
That’s some funny stuff right there.
Hadn’t thought of that possibility!
Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I stopped using them, as soon as a credit balance was sufficient for “show money”.
