all those who wrote the constitution descended from immigrants. I'd argue that the first settlers were not immigrants, but refugees from political and religious persecution in Europe.
It's just that there wasn't anybody already here to grant them asylum; they made the land for themselves.
Except for the native American Indians, of course.
