If an outfit is stupid, they will soon go out of business.

The bigger outfits won't go soon enough to avoid sinking a large chunk of the American middle class.

Our government (federal, state, local) are the most inefficient outfits out there. Nothing works efficiently and cost effectively in gov’t.

Irrelevant - "hire American" is not micromanagement of business but preservation of the American middle class, and thereby of America.

Hire Americans only if the private entrepreneur decides it is in his best interest. Because if his company flourishes, it helps pay local & federal taxes, employ all sorts of maintenance people I am against the government forcing overpaid, leas efficient workers of any nationality down the throat of any private business person.

Narrow-minded "free market"-uber-alles ideology. If his perception of his best interest doesn't extend beyond the current quarter's financial report, his actions undermine the middle class on which a stable successful nation and economy depend.

I am against the government forcing overpaid, leas efficient workers of any nationality down the throat of any private business person.

Assumes without evidence that Americans are not being hired because they're "overpaid and less efficient" - rather than due to prioritizing short-term payroll savings over longer-term employee output value.

Capitalism works best without government strings. When government controls private businesses it is called Fascism. I hope you are not advocating that because of your inability to compete in the job market.

Like I said many times before, let the business decide what works best for them. You are not their mother and neither should be the government telling them how to operate.

The stock market is at all time high, 55% higher since Trump got elected. That is clear indication private sector is doing fine, ins spite of your concerns. There are more jobs out there than ever before. Profits are doing really well. So stop worrying about future of private sector.

Straw man - regulation is not "control."

Like I said many times before, let the business decide what works best for them.

As a patriot, I'm concerned about what works best for America.

There are more jobs out there than ever before.

While wages continue to stagnate.

Profits are doing really well.

At the expense of the middle class on which a stable successful nation and economy depend.

Work on voting in politicians who will place artificial levels of wages for select professions, such as yours. Good luck!

Nothing artificial about setting American immigration policy to benefit Americans.

Importing Educated immigrants is a huge benefit to US economy. It saves on student loans! Especially true in STEM fields because Americans are not anxious to study hard for advanced degrees in STEM. It is grueling curriculum. I know from personal experience having received master’s degree in engineering from Univ of Iowa.

It took me 7 years of hard study work to get my masters.
On the other hand, computer programming can be learned ina matter of months if not weeks, and it is no surprise computer programmers are available from so many countries on the cheap.

There are 3.5 million un- or underemployed STEM-educated US workers. H-1B is corporate welfare.

Less than 50% PhD graduates in STEM are American born!
That is ridiculously crazy. American born have all the advantages, such as English proficiency, possible help in US $$$ from parents/savings/jobs, knowledge of American culture, etc.

When I arrived as a student to work on Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, I had no such advantages. My parents could only pay for 1 semesters tuition. Rest was up to me. I worked part time jobs washing utensils in hospital cafeteria, and part time job in physics dept editing data received from satellites, to support my education.

And it was hard for me to find a good job after graduation because I was on student visa and spoke with an accent. When I found a job walking streets of Chicago in a manufacturing outfit, I did not even ask what my wages would be. I started at the lowest level job in engineering dept doing drafting work. But no one can hold back brains and talent if one possesses those traits. I succeeded beyond my wildest imagination in my jobs. Received promotions after promotions, and ended of as corporate manager of computer aided engineering and manufacturing operations. Engineers from as far away as Germany came to visit my manufacturing plant to observe our processes, because our reputation had spread through the vendors of CNC machines which we were using.

That doesn't contradict what I said.
