Much easier to get away with bribing someone if the money is ‘laundered’ through relative etc.
Of course when I ran the asphalt plant, I would get ‘freebies’ from ALL the suppliers whether I used them or not and definitely took advantage to the Pro Basketball/Baseball/Football tickets and booze at Christmas etc.
I never really considered it a bribe-in the sense of how ‘we’ use it - BUT in the explanation that NOTHING IS FREE, I imagine myself or someone in the company paid one way or the other.
We sort of changed the language in that respect when it was considered the corner store giving the cop his coffee and donut was to be considered a bribe when nothing else could be dug up on someone ‘they’ ‘wanted’.
Oh..for me not to be considered receiving a ‘bribe’ one night at a Bullets game MY ‘program’ # was selected for the ‘free shot’ from half court for a Million (back when a million was a lot of money) and a hamburger if a layup was made. I did ‘win’ a hamburger and offered to ‘split’ it but always wondered whose Million bucks it REALLY was, mine or the gifter...In the back of my mind I always figured if I had passed the ticket to you, that ‘MAYBE’ a finders fee should come my way.

So Hunter was kind of a middle man for corrupt entities. He did what he was told by his handlers and in return was paid very well. As the son of a prominent Democrat, he would never be in legal trouble no matter what he did and the media would volunteer to cover up any issue.

The dead brothers wife was gross. She was committing adultery against her sister in law. Kathleen stood by Hunter thru 20 years of marriage with drug abuse and infidelity.

Yes. And you’ll never be able to trace the money that was paid to him from the various sources. Think layers and layers of financial institutions with brilliant money-men aiding each step of the way. It was then distributed among the political thieves much like a “pad” operated in plainclothes divisions of the NYPD, pre-Serpico.
