It's really telling that you can, under SF's new law, have gummy bear flavored THC vape pens delivered to your home, but any other product, with or without nicotine, is banned.

Even more entertaining is the concept to ban flavors - teen smoking is down to 6% in the latest surveys, the lowest it's ever been. But let's panic about vaping by banning anything but cigarette flavored liquids. What's next, curing teen drinking by only permitting beer flavored sodas?

And let's be clear here. 2/3rds of smokers who try to quit smoking using vape products are successful in their first attempt.

Without any exceptions whatsoever, the antivaping crowd is also the pro cigarette crowd and they don’t care how many people die from cigarettes that wouldn’t die with vaping as a tool to stop smoking.

That is who and what they are and it becomes manifestly clear when you debate them.

My 62 year old sister has such a severe case of COPD that she has lost nearly 100 lbs. in a year, thanks to vaping as a substitute for smoking. She looks like she’s 82, and I don’t know how much longer she has. She is so weak she can barely fix meals and has no family nearby to help.
Vaping is worse than smoking. My sister is proof.

Is this the kind of nonsense that grinds Rich Lowry’s gears? It’s no wonder he has put the NRO in the crapper.

I saw a guy smoking an e-cig recently and the cloud he exhaled was the size of a VW Beetle.

People don’t have a problem with it being an aid for smokers to stop smoking.

The problem is people who have never smoked before in their lives are starting to vape. And the fear is that this will be a gateway to more dangerous habits since these vape products contain nicotine. This is especially problematic for children. A recent study showed over 1/4th of high school students are vaping regularly.

Vaping has turned thousands of kids into addicts who can’t quit. They will become addicted adults who can’t quit.

STOP TURNING CHILDREN INTO ADDICTS.

teen smoking is down to 6%

No icky stick slaves for you!

Teens are gonna smoke, or vape. It's a fact of life. If they vape they're not gonna suck death sticks. Bad for RJR and friends!

I'm not saying that there are no dangers associated with vaping, but right from the start it was in the left's crosshairs, and I always wondered why vaping was targeted with such intensity at a time when the left - and even many conservatives - are touting the widespread legalization of marijuana.

There are probably a dozing marijuana shops within 15 minutes of my house; meanwhile drug-fueled homelessness is sprouting up everywhere. Say what you will about the alleged safety of marijuana, it is still an entry-level drug and a psychologically dangerous trigger for some people.

I don't know enough about vaping to know what sorts of substances can be put into those tubes, whether they are a modernized form of a "bong," or whether only commercially-made products can be used with them.

Ironically Juul Labs may have become its own worst enemy.

About six months ago they began airing commercials every hour on our conservative talk radio station urging a nationwide age 21 purchase law to combat “youth vaping”.

They may have started the hysteria.

I avoid people with immediately obvious obsessive-compulsive behaviors. By doing so, I avoid people with less obvious repulsive behaviors. People with facial piercings, using e-cigarettes and bad language, probably are also on welfare, or smell bad, or are otherwise disruptive.

It works.

I used to have to drive by a methadone clinic. You could see the gamut of these related behaviors. You couldn’t tell who had AIDS, but you could tell which ones probably did by their huffing on nicotine machines.

Many of the same politicians rending their garments about vaping are totally open to legalizing marijuana which is typically smoked. Doesn’t marijuana deliver a concoction of chemicals into the lungs? There is certainly more evidence of the health dangers of marijuana than e- cigarettes yet politicians seem to have no problem with expanding the smoking of marijuana.

Vaping kids are the parents problem. Vaping adults are their own problem. I do not see an issue that needs the force of government arms. Trump should have made a statement that reinforced freedom and personal responsibility instead of reinforcing the nanny state.

He could have even said, smoke em if you have em but you will lose eligibility for free Ocare.

The recent deaths and injuries to a small number of people don’t have anything to with nicotine vaping. To my understanding, it is vaping adulterated black market THC product. They are supposedly buying from medical dispensaries, and then stretching it with some sort of vitamin E oil and then selling it on the street. That doesn’t mean there aren’t huge numbers of kids vaping nicotine and THC. But yeesh it’s already illegal for them to do that, just like it’s illegal to buy black market THC vaping product.

A grand total of 6 people have died from tinkering with non-manufacturer vape solutions. (THC in oil rather than nicotine in water-based solutions)

Compare to the 480,000 or so who die of tobacco related illnesses every year.

Which industry is about to have the full weight of the federal government attempt to crush it?

Hint: It's not the one that "gives" $10s of millions in bribes, uh, campaign contributions every year...

” teen smoking is down to 6% in the latest surveys, the lowest it’s ever been.”

However, vaping exceeds the previous smoker count. More teens vape than ever smoked.

The big danger in vaping is the nicotine overdose issue.

Nicotine overdose is between 30mg - 60mg.

A cigarette has 8mg.

Vaping products can easily exceed 30mg as people treat those things like pacifiers and continuously vape and are able to select how strong their vaping liquid is.

I’ve been around people who vape like it’s a pacifier. Their personality changes to highly belligerent and argumentative. Last Christmas was ruined by two idiots that pacifiered their vaping sticks and by evening time they would argue and fight about anything. It’s what nicotine poisoning does to a person.

There are several Democratic Nanny State governors and dozens of Nanny State city councils that are targeting vaping and attempting to control people’s lives.

These dictators have no understanding of freedom.

It all starts from San Francisco and spreads across America.

This thread reminds me once again that if every progressive suddenly dropped dead, we conservatives would still be arguing amongst ourselves, which gives the lie to the leftist claim that we blindly take our marching orders from Fox News, Trump, Rush, or anyone else.
