People don’t have a problem with it being an aid for smokers to stop smoking.
The problem is people who have never smoked before in their lives are starting to vape. And the fear is that this will be a gateway to more dangerous habits since these vape products contain nicotine. This is especially problematic for children. A recent study showed over 1/4th of high school students are vaping regularly.
Civilization cannot survive with twelve-year-olds having babies, fifteen-year-olds shooting one another, seventeen-year-olds dying of AIDS, and eighteen-year-olds graduating with diplomas they cannot read.
Society, that's us, must stop this youth addiction.
They tried a vape product in the last 30 days is what the study found (24%) 'Regular use' of at least once a day is about 8% vs 6% smoking cigarettes. Interestingly, there's no result pairing the two data points - I'd very much like to know how much of the 6% smoking cigarettes (or other tobacco products) also are part of the 8% who have used a vaping product at least once a day.
1/3 of high school students also tried an alcoholic drink in the last 30 days. Obviously we need to ban alcohol...
As for it being a gateway - please tell me how someone goes from pickle flavored vaping to smoking? Oh, but I could see an easier path if people are vaping ash tray flavored liquids (the result of banning flavors...)
A more significant study - one for which we will probably have to wait a while - would be the number of vapers who graduate to smoking.
And without vaping, theyd just be new smokers.
Not all vape products contain nicotine.
