White House, DOJ Gun Control Proposal Includes Universal Background Checks
Breitbart ^ | 18 September 2019 | Awr Hawkins

A White House and Department of Justice proposal containing gun control ideas is now available for public consumption.

CNN White House correspondent Elaina Plott tweeted a copy of the document:

The document clearly shows the White House and DOJ adopting the structure of the Manchin-Toomey gun control bill as a guide: “Consistent with the Manchin-Toomey-draft legislation, a background check requirement would be extended to all commercial sales, including sales at gun shows.”

The document shows the Manchin-Toomey background checks–i.e., universal background checks–would include issuance of a “bill of sale” and the preservation of a “chain of title.” Sellers would have the option of preserving record of the sale or allowing a Federal Firearm License holder to record the sale.

If Trump signs on to this, he will likely lose Texas.

Private sales are still legal in some States. Those are the “ gun show loophole” that they want closed. Or so they say. They really want the UBC and a registration scheme.

“Another tweet from same article: “An update from the White House: Hogan Gidley tells me that just because WH legislative director Eric Ueland is among those pushing this on the Hill, it does NOT mean Trump himself has signed off on it. “Not even close.” https:// twitter.com/elainaplott/st atus/1174335971283935232”

Then the President needs to have this guy walked out of there. We elected the President to follow the Constitution not violate it.

The President needs to quit playing games, he is losing support with this nonsense.

Your error is in thinking that the powers that be, in our case the politicians, want to reduce crime, or make the public safe. Nothing could be further from the case. They do not give a damn about either reducing crime or making the public safe. What they do care about is disarming totally and completely the public at large. And only Government Agencies[ them] having firearms.

They are not stupid. They know that the laws that they will enact to day will not reduce or control crime. They do, however believe that we are stupid. And that argument could be made because we vote for and elect them election after election.

That’s EXACTLY what’s going on: game playing. All these people on here talking about “trial balloons” ought to listen to yourselves. That’s what children do. They poke around to see what they can get away with and what gets their hand slapped. That’s not what I want in a president.

And if you have people working for you that aren’t clear on your stance-that’s YOUR FAULT. You 1) make yourself clear and then 2) if they don’t tow the party line you fire them.

This really isn’t that hard.

No-this is EXACTLY what it looks like-Trump is sending people out with different proposals to see just what kind of pushback he gets. He’s playing politics and that pisses me off.

Universal Background Checks are worse than a slippery slope.

Florida does not require background check for private and/or gun show (non-dealer) sales.

In the era of Obama, I worried about horrible gun control laws, and none came.

Yet in the era of Trump, I was sure horrible gun control laws would not come, but now I have to worry about them.

It boggles the mind.

Trump approved.. unconstitutional, like the bumpstock ban. I think he is bored with office.

I think we don’t deserve him. POTUS is all that stands between us and the Unipaty ramming everything down our throats. Now we’re going to moan about bump stocks while a full blown bipartisan coup is in progress against POTUS? I’ve never seen a more ungrateful bunch of voters, frankly.

Trump is the wrong target here. He has no control of Congress. No doubt they will try to dump a gun bill on him that boxes him in. Reminiscent of HW Bush and taxes.

My State allowed private sales until last year. That reset my inventory to zero.

UBC = Universal registration.

As an FFL holder for over twenty years I know a few things about this.

The NICS checks are ineffective and full of flaws.

Had several customers “Denied” for all sorts of bogus reasons.
Sharing a name with a son (or dad!) who might have an issue, which could be as trivial as an unpaid traffic ticket in another state. (Good luck getting THAT cleared up quickly, particularly CA)
OLD misdemeanor cases that had been arbitrated DECADES ago, but while the old charges were carefully updated to NICS the DISPOSITION (Dismissal, fine paid, etc.) of the case was not.
In these cases it is ASSUMED that there is an outstanding warrant even though no warrant actually exist.
Having a same or similar name to someone else with a criminal history or warrant.
Early in the NICS program I was frequently asked to describe the buyers physical description even to the point of being told to ask my customer to partly undress so that I could look for known scars or tattoos!
EVERY time one of my “Denied” customers filed the form to contest their denial they were subsequently “Approved”.
And NO, giving your SS number does NOT reduce NICS mistakes, they do not use it to identify the actual purchaser.

I also know for a fact that a $50 fake ID is enough to pass NICS.

Then there is the little matter of criminals NOT being prosecuted for lying on the form 4473.
It states “Under penalty of perjury” but no one is ever arrested for lying.

The original article mentions the 4473 being retained for twenty years, but the dealers “Bound books” are retained as long as they are in business.
When the dealer goes out of business they are required to be sent to ATF in VA where ATF illegally attempts to use them to create a national registry of firearms and their owners.

Don’t want to write a book tonight, but NO to more records being kept, NO to registration, stop the confiscation before it begins!

Then why have I been the lone voice to repeal the NFA-34 for so long?
Suddenly the 2A is sacrosanct, but the treasons of ‘34, ‘68, 94, etc. were OK?
