Pentagon: Nearly $2.5B in border wall contracts finalized

The Department of Defense (DOD) has finalized nearly $2.5 billion in contracts to build a portion of President Trump's wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, the Pentagon’s top spokesman said Thursday.

The administration’s goal is to have completed over 450 miles of wall construction by the end of 2020, Hoffman added.

“It’ll take a little while, as we do the planning, we buy the property, we do the environmental assessments . . . and then you’ll see a rapid increase in the amount. Right now, we’re at a pace of about a mile a day and we’ll see that continue to go up,” he said.

to build a portion of President Trump’s wall
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They always refer to it as his wall. It ain’t. It is our wall.
Before you are done in California, start rounding up the foreign nationals and deport them all and CLOSE THE GATE!
The $2.5 billion in Counter-Narcotics money seems to be safely obligated, so it won’t expire come October 1st (new Fiscal Year).
The $3.6 billion in Military Construction (MILCON) money is five year money. Depending on which of the 127 projects it was drawn from, it probably has 2-4 years to go before expiring.
I don’t think that we are quite up to a mile per day, today, but we could get there when everything already contracted hits full speed in another month or two. Closer to a half mile per day, today.
Just a few days after “sources” said they were not going to do it.
Yeah, Ann has sure turned out to be a disappointment. And I’ve read nearly all her books.
“Trump is so re-elected.”
Depends on what he does on gun control and immigration.
MAGA! KAG! :)
If we don’t get the wall up first, they’ll just be back here tomorrow.
More winning. Still not tired.
The wall is going to make it much more difficult for the next leftist president to (God forbid) refuse to enforce immigration laws.
I love the optics of this going up during the 2020 presidential season. It is like the reverse of the way the press did daily body counts for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan until the day Obama was in office (then the number no longer mattered even though we continued to be at war). We need some sort of daily graphic showing miles of wall built, numbers of illegal trespassers being rounded up and sent back, and the number of liberal tears shed.
It was in a court filing for additional work that was put on the back burner is the way I read it. MSM saw an opportunity they couldn't resist to lie about it, apparently.
