Senate to Vote on H-1B Program that Sneaks Billions in Payroll from GOP States

The H-1B program uses cheap foreign workers to replace American workers, and so it dramatically reduces payrolls in legislators’ districts, according to a comparison of two federal databases. The reduced payroll does not go to the local restaurants, landlords, or various members of the local Chambers of Commerce. The funds do not get to local non-profits, county governments, or city halls. Instead, the diverted payroll is transferred from the politicians’ districts to the coastal investors who hire the cheap H-1Bs in place of Americans, according to U.S. and Indian financial reports.

The diverted payroll is important because the Senate is expected to vote September 19 on a bill — S.386 — that would reward Indian college-graduates if they agree to take jobs from American graduates, via the uncapped “Optional Practical Training” and H-1B visa programs.

Nationwide, roughly 800,000 foreign college-graduates — including about 600,000 Indians — are using the H-1B program to work jobs that were held by American college graduates. H-1Bs are cheap because many take the jobs in exchange for their employers’ promise to nominate them for a hugely valuable, taxpayer-funded green card.

After Trump the GOP is dead to me. Better to go with the socialists over globalists. At least a nation can recover from socialism. Globalism is a death sentence for the USA and the EU for that matter.

Open borders, global labor arbitrage and off shoring prove we can't have nice things.

Thank you! I called my senators yesterday but all I got was a comment line, which said senators were given a summary of calls received daily.

Lou Dobbs said on his show yesterday don't go thanking Perdue he only stopped it temporarily because he wants a tiny change.

I called 10 Senate offices and all the staffers said after a little tweaking it will pass, probably next week. The cloak room talk is Trump will sigh it.

We are f--ked.

You are not listening to what I was saying.

First you need to realize there is a difference between engineering, computer science and IT. IT can be done with a 6 month training course, it does not require 6 plus years of college. And I agree and even stated above that the IT field is being abused with H1B visas and that needs to be stopped. Companies using H1B to fulfill IT jobs are doing so to get around paying market wages and are bringing in guys (and gals) from India or where ever, housing them 10 to a house and paying them, if they are lucky $5 an hour because it is 100x more then what they would ever make in India. That is a whole different problem and nobody, including Ted Cruz wants to fix that.

Instead of acting like a 5 year old leftist who has to resort to name calling and fake outrage, read what I wrote instead of focusing on one sentence. Or better yet, grow up.

Here is my response regarding engineers. Domestic supply of trained engineers is not static and will increase in this case, increase drastically when the foreign supply is cut off. THAT IS A FACT it is also pro American.

I have two Engineering degrees and I also am into software development so I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.

I KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.

Not if you equate IT work with Engineering and computer science.

I wish we had an alternative to Republicans who control the party. They treat us little folk like slave labor, while the Powers That Be prefer cheap, subservient foreign labor and huge paychecks for the upper tier.

If the Dems were at all sane, they'd win easily next year. Problem is, they're so scary that 'pubs feel they can get away with stuff like this.

our public schools would rather teach LGBTQP curriculum then advanced math

Our schools are teaching kids to believe the government will take care of them and working for a living is for suckers.

We do have a potential STEM pipeline problem.

The reason H1-B is tech and science are needed is because we can’t provide them here.

Not true (at least not yet); there are millions of un- or underemployed American STEM graduates.
