Trump Hits Back At Lindsey Graham: If You Think It Was Weak Not To Bomb Iran, Remind Yourself How Iraq Turned Out

My favorite thing about Trump is how little he gives Graham on foreign policy despite Graham kissing his ass relentlessly in hopes of turning him into a hawk. It’s commendable on the merits, in that Trump’s reluctance to wage war is a welcome corrective to the McCain/Graham-style of hyperinterventionism that ruled the GOP for years. But it’s also gratifying on a gut level, even as a Trump skeptic. “One of Trump’s more likable qualities is his penchant for publicly humiliating all the lickspittle Republicans who try and ride his coattails,” writes C.J. Ciaramella of Reason, remembering how Chris Christie was treated during the 2016 campaign. It’s true! What could be more enjoyable than watching Graham toady to the president day and night after dismissing him as a “kook” and a national security threat in 2016, believing that it will buy him influence over foreign policy, and as his reward having him endure daily reminders that Trump is far more inclined towards Rand Paul’s fopo views than Lindsey’s?

“If You Think It Was Weak Not To Bomb Iran, Remind Yourself How Iraq Turned Out “

And the IRI knows that’s how Trump feels, hence their continued bad behavior. Sanctions alone will not make them stop.

If Lindsey starts singing “bomb bomb Iran”, call an exorcist.

linda, you have little, if any affect on President Trump's plans. He WILL NOT turn into a hawk just because you want him to.

Lindsey

Graham

Ping!

Want on or off Linda's fav ping list? Just FReepmail me.

Remember that linda is up for reelection in 2020.
Remember also that linda is writing a Red Flag bill.

President Trump is NOT a dove. But, neither is he a war hawk. President Trump is a Pragmatist/Realist.
As a business mogul he is instinctual in evaluating the CBA. Cost Benefit Analysis.
As an entrepreneur he is not risk adverse but, his risk taking is calculated.
Everything President Trump does is calculated. From his tweets, to his verbal statements, to his actions.89
All with CBA in mind.

I think Graham masterminded the FISA abuses and only tried to be a bad-ass to save his ass. I don’t think he flipped at all.

“Sanctions alone will not make them stop.”

You want us to go to war on behalf of Saudi Arabia?

Why is the dictatorship of Saudi Arabia preferable to the dictatorship of Iran? Why should US young people be sent to die for either of these quarreling Islamofascist states?

Endorsing Bush League Republicans doesn’t gain him anything and it is precluding our ability to drain the swamp by Cantorizing the weasels who vote for amnesty and every war elsewhere.
I hope he stops doing it, at least before the primary.

It’s hard to keep up with everybody’s ideology on this going or not going to war issue. You’ve got Romney not liking Bolton getting fired but he doesn’t want to attack Iran. Not surprising about Linda though. He always wants to go to war. I’d keep an eye on Trump. He may be playing the Iranians and making them think he’s going to go easy on them. If the Mullahs try something else and it makes oil go to $100 a barrel that could hurt the economy and give the Rats something to really run on. It’s not just gas prices going up but it will reverberate through all aspects of the market and economy. What will we do then?

Thanks for that meme - it will hold a place of honor next to my Keith Richards “Look who I outlived today!” meme.

Trump is storing up trouble. Hopefully the bill won’t come due before 2020.

“You want us to go to war on behalf of Saudi Arabia?”

Nope. The Saudis need to handle it.

But every time Trump makes a statement like that, it encourages the Iranian regime to continue doing as they please.

Reagan refused to go to war in the Middle East even after hundreds of Marines were blown up by terrorists. Reagan was one of the most , if not the most , successful presidents ever and the best GOP President next to Lincoln

Lindsey Graham seems to want Trump to emulate George W Bush instead - arguably the least successful GOP President next to Hoover (and possibly Nixon)

Trump would rather be remembered like Reagan, for peace and prosperity, than like Bush - endless war and a near depression

Nope. It lets people know he’s not stupid like George Bush

As a real estate guy, I’m also sure Trump has a natural aversion to anything that involves wanton destruction of people and property.

Every time President Trump is getting close to reaching his goal to negotiate and end our warmongering, the “evil dictators” do something to mess it up. Something’s not right about that. It’s always when the bad guys have nothing to gain and everything to lose by the hostile actions. My hypothesis that’s at least worthy of consideration is these situations are either rogue elements within those nations or setups by “friends” who benefit from the wars.
