Ex-national security adviser John Bolton on Wednesday ripped President Trumps aborted plan to invite the Taliban to Camp David, saying the move sent a terrible signal and was disrespectful to the victims of 9/11 because the Taliban had harbored al Qaeda.
Bolton, speaking at a private luncheon, also said that negotiations with North Korea and Iran were doomed to failure on the presidents watch, two people who were there told Politico.
All the North Koreans and Iranians want is relief from sanctions to support their economies, Bolton told guests at the event hosted by the Gatestone Institute, a conservative think tank.
He ripped Trump, without using his name, several times, said one attendee.
Bolton also said more than once that Trumps failure to respond to the Iranian attack on an American drone earlier this summer set the stage for the Islamic Republics aggression in recent months including Saturdays large-scale attack on the Saudis oil industry.

Would you trust the Taliban? I wouldn’t. But we need to get out. Everyone is sick of this war. Level it and come home.
I never thought going into Afghanistan and doing nation building in 2001. I thought at the time that all we should have done was to hunt Osama down like a mad dog and hang him from the Empire State building. But now people are actually thinking of dealing with these bastards? Tragic. I don’t want the U.S. to ever start another war like that. If we ever have to strike any other country in the future it has to be quick and deadly. Unfortunately we either have warmongers or ineptitude in our leadership. What we need is a Doctrine that spells out clearly what our goals are in future campaigns. Otherwise, forget it. There will be nothing but backbiting and our soldiers end up being the losers.
Did you support the Iraq war?
Bolton was also a draft dodger during the Vietnam War; we don’t need this chickenhawk warmonger in any position of authority.
I think a “softer, gentler” approach would be advisable on any dismissals made by President Trump. And although he is hamstrung by the lamestream media and has to take to twitter to get his message out to the people, this should also be toned down and done less frequently. Sometimes it’s advantageous to let the opposition “guess” what your next move is.
I was going to say pr*ck but @sshole works.
Bolton wants to bomb everybody and he claims what Trump does is disrespectful??
I always knew Bolton was a moron but that really lowers him further.
I could bring myself to tolerate having to deal with these groups in some indirect manner, but an invitation to Camp David is indefensible.
Wars don’t just end when the fighting stops. Following behind the advancing front in WWII we had a Civil Affairs Division, re-establishing gov’ts so that chaos and anarchy and gangs didn’t take over.
Then when Germany and Japan surrendered we had occupation troops there for years in order to guide what the re-established gov’ts would be like. That was possible in the western nation like Germany, and a wannabe western nation like Japan.
In an Islamic country, esp a primitive one like Afghanistan, your ability to influence them is much less. Only the goofs in the Bush II admin thought they could transform a Muslim nation into a western one. All the same, you want to leave behind someone who actually can control the place and who isn’t your bitter enemy.
LOL. I was going to say pr!ck, then changed my mind at the last moment.
It's almost as if someone wanted to prove Iran was THE number one threat that needed to be taken care of right now.
Or maybe Iran decided this was the moment to launch an unprovoked attack. Who knows?
FU, warmonger.
What does either of the two things he mentioned have to do with your question about the Iraq war.II

No more Iraqs
Didnt see that coming from bolton, said no one ever.
*** I found it curious the Saudi attack happened right after Bolton left. ***
Did you find it curious that an attack which would drive oil prices up came just as KSA was fixing to do their 5% IPO of ARAMCO?
What Trump should have done was invite them anyway, set up a seperate guest house, then once they were inside blow it up and say “two can play this game and don’t F with me next time or I’ll MOAB Afganistan into dust” I mean really, what makes the Taliban think they can blow up one of our guys for leverage and we wouldn’t do something like this? If we did then the world would know Trump don’t play!
Bolton is right.
