John Bolton unloads on Trump’s ‘disrespectful’ foreign policy
NY Post ^ | September 18, 2019 | 6:15pm | Bob Fredericks

Ex-national security adviser John Bolton on Wednesday ripped President Trump’s aborted plan to invite the Taliban to Camp David, saying the move sent a “terrible signal” and was “disrespectful” to the victims of 9/11 because the Taliban had harbored al Qaeda.

Bolton, speaking at a private luncheon, also said that negotiations with North Korea and Iran were “doomed to failure” on the president’s watch, two people who were there told Politico.

All the North Koreans and Iranians want is relief from sanctions to support their economies, Bolton told guests at the event hosted by the Gatestone Institute, a conservative think tank.

“He ripped Trump, without using his name, several times,” said one attendee.

Bolton also said more than once that Trump’s failure to respond to the Iranian attack on an American drone earlier this summer set the stage for the Islamic Republic’s aggression in recent months — including Saturday’s large-scale attack on the Saudi’s oil industry.

Check my link in Post #36. It’s pretty clear to me what happened here:

The people who run the Gatestone Institute sent John Bolton to work for the Trump administration for the purpose of accomplishing ONE task: to orchestrate a U.S. invasion of Iran.

If this NY Post report is accurate, then he was probably just going back there to explain to his employers why he failed.

John Bolton was not an ADVISOR to President Trump. He was a Swamp Denizen LOBBYIST.

Good riddance to this @sshole.

"All the North Koreans and Iranians want is relief from sanctions to support their economies"

Bolton must really be losing it.

Isn’t that the same logic as McCain working with the “freedom fighters” in Syria that some of them turned out to be ISIS? I hate the Taliban. They blew up the guy who we were working with before we invaded Afghanistan. I just can’t understand ANYBODY giving these animals legitimacy. But I may be crazy but not stupid. I still think it was pencil necked Jared that put the Taliban meeting together. Not good. I love Trump but his son in law is a punk.

Click-bait from New York City’s incarnation of the Weekly World News.

Bolton trashing Trump? Who wudda thunk?

Thank you John for putting a C-note in my hand. Bet with a friend that not even a month would go by before Bolton would trash the President publicly.

What if there had been a positive outcome had the talks at Camp David occurred? Would that have been disrespectful?

I have always thought that it was disrespectful to those victims that the people voted in as President a man with a Muslim name who refused to condemn Muslim extremists and said the future belonged to those who praised the prophet. The Muslim terrorist praise the prophet.

I think a different location would be more appropriate and certainly the meeting date could be moved. And Bolton needs to shut up.

Yup. His “job” was to get this country to fight other people’s wars for them. He got fired.

As much as I like Trump I’m always skeptical of humans. I only trust in God.

He spoke to sixty donors at a frou frou Manhattan restaurant. The group must have gotten him cheap. The guy strikes me as a climber who has never been satisfied with any position he attained. He came from a blue collar Baltimore background and got admitted to a private prep school in the Owings Mills suburb of Baltimore that was a boys-only military academy until the past few decades. The school was and is an Ivy League feeder. Bolton strikes me as one who may be posturing for a primary run against Trump maybe in a VP slot. It will be interesting to see which groups start to fawn all over him. As far as inviting the Taliban contingent to Camp David, I would have had no problem with them riding in a Marine helicopter to the venue and escorted out of the craft at about 7,500 feet over a wooded portion of the property. Sans chutes, of course.

No, it’s not the same. For one thing Trump is not McCain. And “the Taliban” isn’t one cohesive group, there’s multiple factions claiming the title.

The alternative is to leave Afghanistan without us exerting any influence over who controls the place. We don’t want another Afghan government letting the next Osama bin Laden set up camp there like last time.

Trump said he accepted Bolton’s resignation. He didn’t say Bolton was fired.

But the media played it that way, causing stupid Bolton to run to the media and Twitter to say he wasn’t fired—he resigned.

Bolton could have stopped this before he looked stupid, but it seems he’s no where near as smart with the media as Trump is.

Stupid Bolton.

Bolton attacking Trump broadens Trump’s appeal. He also gets to keep bringing up that Bolton wanted to go into Iraq and he was against it.

The jackass. Just another Bushie swarming around Trump.

The entire government has basically been Trump alone, surrounded by GOPe loyalists with a single mission of impeding him until they can get things back to normal.

Pulling us out of Afghanistan is what we need. We can negotiate a deal with the Taliban which they might honor (or we come back) or we can not do a deal and just turn everything over to them when we leave.

Bolton might be a smart guy, and he may be right on some things, but he doesn’t work and play well with others.

It left me scratching my head when he hired him in the first place. Then I’ve thought that he’s exposing the “deep staters” this way? I don’t know. Just thinking out loud.
