Senate officials say a Pennsylvania state lawmaker who is facing child pornography possession charges has resigned.
Sen. Mike Folmer's apparent resignation Wednesday came hours after he was arrested by the state attorney general's office. Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati and Senate Majority Leader Jake Corman said in statement that they received Folmer's resignation letter after they spoke with him to insist on it.
The state attorney general's office charged Folmer late Tuesday with possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility, both felonies.
Investigators allegedly found two images of child pornography on Folmer's cell phone after they asked him to turn it over at his house in Lebanon County. Authorities were acting on a tip from a social media website.
The 63-year-old Folmer and his lawyer haven't returned messages.
He resigned. So you know he's a Republican.
He could have just gone to the local library and viewed all the child porn he wanted without fear of being arrested.
The charge wasnt viewing - the charge was he posted ONE pic.
Im curious if its actual child porn or if he posted a 17 year old and got busted for being a republican.
Question:
If a cop with a bodycam happens across a couple of 16 yr old getting it on, and it is captured on his camera.
Is He Guilty of Possessing Child Porn?? What about his superior that DOWNLOADS it to a TAXPAYER OWNED COMPUTER?
PA republican busted for a picture.
Bill Clinton is still running free after multiple trips to Lolita’s Island.
‘PA State Senator busted with kiddie porn on his phone.’
so you know he’s from Lebanon County, aka Lep’non Conty...
just joking, of course...
I'm curious what the details here are. Aren't most child porn pedos busted with vast collections?
No no no.. thats evidence
Cops dont get convicted for pot possession either
I’m also curious as to how the pics got on the phone.
A social media tip sent the cops?
Did the owner of the phone download the photos or did someone hack them in?
I’m remembering how for a while back in the day, anyone got sideways with Obama’s regime, all the sudden child porn got found on their computer at home or at work. Then that one female reporter fought back and hired tech forensic specialists and they proved it was an over the internet hack job.
I have to assume since the political party is not noted in the article .they must be democrats....
Cops are exempt from the law.
Good point - was his account hacked?
Id also like to know the social media site involved. Was it a common one like Twitter? Facebook?
Not at all - but body cam footage of teens doing it definitely falls under job responsibilities. Copying it to your thumb drive and taking it home is not.
There's very few more effective ways to be totally ruined that get caught with child porn. Planting child porn on computers has been used in acrimonious divorce and child custody proceedings. Not difficult to imagine the tactic being employed in politics.
It could easily surpass the old “honeypot” schemes which required gorgeous women to boink politicians with photographers nearby.
We don’t need Republicans who are this brilliant.
Ex-Senator Follmer was GOP.
More eighth grade journalism.
There is so much left out here for the reader to come to any informed conclusion.
Not defending here, IMO adults who sexually covet *children* should receive a double tap.
But what constitutes “child porn” is probably not as cut and dry as the legal system and the morons in the media would have us believe.
It’s like “sex offender”. You get caught taking a piss behind a bush when you think you are alone and that constitutes a lifetime label of sex offender. Not kidding.
I don’t want to see what this guy was looking at, but I’d like a LOT more detail overall. Which ain’t gonna happen in our 15 minute attention span culture.
When party is not mentioned in a report of misbehavior it is almost always a Democrat. But in this case you are right.
