An editorial in the official Iranian Fars News today tacitly admits the goal of the Saudi attack this past weekend was to bring down Donald Trump’s 2020 Presidency.
The title of the piece: The Iranian who Overthrew Carter Also Overthrows Trump Here is a translated version of the editorial from Fars News:
Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state, immediately accused Iran of seizing an attack on Saudi Arabia’s largest oil field, claiming that there was no evidence that the drones were fired from Yemen, Iranian soil had been fired. They are trying to bait big Don into a war, first with the oil tanker stuff and now this. He just slapped them with much more sanctions. No war will greatly increase his 2020 chances of re election. Our guy bid Don just Trumped them. After he is re-elected they better watch out.
I agree. I believe there is a lot of dissension among the Iranian people because of President Trump's sanctions.
IMHO, President Trump should make the sanctions hurt more. Then provide Saudi Arabia with sufficient weapons to shut down Iran's oil production (if they don't already have that capability).
Trump is squashing Iran like a grape with the sanctions. The leaders fear a massive revolt of the people when the economy tanks.
They wouldn’t be doing this if the sanctions weren’t hurting. They’d be hurting worse if the EU could be persuaded to cooperate.
