The prime minister has told the BBC that he will follow the law, but will leave the EU at the end of October. “I will uphold the constitution, I will obey the law, but we will come out on October the 31st” he told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg. A bill was passed by Parliament in early September to prevent the UK from leaving the European Union without a deal.

What is he planning? Can’t see how he can obey the law and deliver on his promise.

Silly lady, the PM clearly intends to take no action which would explicitly violate the law, but instead will simply let the clock run out until the EU ties are history. Buzzer sounds, game over the brilliant PM WINS!!! Make Great Britain Great Again!

He’s planning on doing nothing until time runs out.

Not a thing illegal about that.

Halloween will be interesting this year.

Guy Fawkes Night may also have a bit extra this year.

I am lighting a jack-o-lantern for Boris and the British people this Halloween.

On a crisp, cool and mostly mooonless light.

I believe the law requires him to ask for an extension.

I believe all EU coutries must agree to grant an extension.

Unless progress is likely, an extension would be pointless.

Actually, October 31st is REFORMATION DAY. So this is most appropriate news.

I assume there is a loophole in the bill passed making it illegal to leave without requesting an extension.

I’m sure someone has figured out by now that when Britain leaves the EU, that they could just sit “OFFSHORE” and financially bleed the EU dry. This is sooo obvious and pretty much explains everything!

That would have been possible before the parliament vote. Now it is a lot more murky and not a simple “run the clock down”. It would be interesting to see how he can do this

They can’t.

To do that they need access to the market.

Since 2016 the clearing houses have been moved to the customs union. In addition most of the brokering houses and investment banks have moved their EU work to the EU.

To be a Singapore on the Thames, they need to be part of the EU just as Singapore is a part of ASEAN.

Not to take issue with what u said, you have good points.

It’s my opinion that someone will throw out the rules and try to do it. The UK should stop trying to genuflect to EU socialists who don’t even pay for their own protection and give them problems at every turn. The EU is just across the channel and for sure they do not represent the whole world.

1. the UK does not genuflect to the EU — remember that the UK is part of the EU and in fact has directed the EU. Remember also that the UK mostly got its way in the EU - it is the only country with a rebate (money back), it got a permanent opt-out of the euro, of the schengen zone etc.

2. In terms of socialism the UK doesn’t lag far behind even France (the king of socialists).

3. EU who don’t pay for their own protection —> note that the “protection” is provided by NATO, a completely separate organization from the EU. And when there was an attempt for a EU-wide co-ordinated force (not an EU army, more like a lame coalition), that was called “oh, example of an EU army” - so damned of they do, damned if they don’t.

4. Finally - in terms of “the whole world” - for the USA they definitely don’t. For the UK, with 56% of its trade being with the rest of the eu, it is a large chunk of the world that can’t be easily replaced and definitely not in a decade, no matter how much support it gets.

England-Wales will survive of course - they’re not going to disappear.

They MUST go ahead with Hard brexit now. it is too late for anything else.

But the key point is that this is all and has been, under the UK’s control. The problem is that they haven’t made up their minds yet (and you can’t blame them - it is a complex matter)
