New York City schools will excuse absences for students who wish to participate in “climate strikes” taking place at various locales on September 20.

Those Interested will need parental permission, and “younger” students must be accompanied by a parent, according to a school district tweet.

“We applaud our students when they raise their voices in a safe and respectful manner on issues that matter to them,” another district tweet read.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio joined the Twitter fun in praising students for their activism, and invoked the ever-shrinking amount of time humans have to prevent Earth’s destruction: “We have ten years to save the planet. TEN YEARS. Today’s leaders are making decisions for our environment that our kids will have to live with.”

Some are. The stories of great Asian schools are pretty overblown, according to many sources. Simply because of the number of people in China and India, “native ability plus good instruction” happens often enough to be noticeable, but it’s not the situation for most.

I’ve been waiting since the 70s to freeze to death.

When you begin to read this you'll probably wonder what this has to do with kids skipping school for some leftwing demonstrations. If you read on, you'll find out.

Back in 1969, I took a day off from work to attend the last game of the World Series. I didn't have tickets and when I don't for a sold out event like that I usually wind up buying several tickets, picking the best one I get, and selling the others back.

Selling the tickets, even for face value, is or was against the law in NY. My purchaser was an undercover cop. My extra ticket was confiscated, and I was given the equivalent of a traffic ticket with a mandatory appearance in court.

So my day in court came up. Lots of people were there mostly for the same reason I was and I had to wait my turn while other people told their story to the judge.

Some poor kid who was the first to be asked why he wasn't in school on the day he was caught selling a ticket told the judge it was Moratorium Day. The judge ripped him a new @$$#0!e.

Things have sure changed in New York since the!
