Beto O’Rourke launched an expletive-fueled defense of his call Sunday to ban assault-style weapons and impose mandatory buybacks of AR-15s and AK-47s while also pushing back at critics — including fellow 2020 Democrat Pete Buttigieg.
During last Thursday’s presidential debate, the former Texas congressman said, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47, and we’re not going to allow it to be used against your fellow Americans anymore.” Three days later, O’Rourke appeared on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” where host Chuck Todd pointed out that there was “a lot of hand-wringing” about the presidential contender’s full-throated call on national TV for confiscating such rifles.
As O’Rourke has put the issue of gun violence at the center of his campaign effort, some fellow Democrats have chastised him and expressed concern that his statements may have made things harder for gun control supporters as they negotiate with President Trump on legislation to respond to this summer’s mass shootings.

Robert O’Rourke is making sure that he will not be able to run for any office in Texas in the future. He has totally lost his mind.
By making the outrages declaration he has moved the line. So now anythng short of outright mandatory confiscation is the new center position. That is how constant pressure leftward works.
I’m not pro-gun but I support and understand the need for the Second Amendment. That being said, these calls for forced gun confiscations, which logically would lead to search warrants to storm into any political enemy’s home, and mental health determinations of “future crimes’ scare even me. Given a free rein and crazy supporters, about half of the Dems on that debate stage were absolutely scary and would end ALL vestiges of freedom, privacy, and the ability to defend ourselves.

Although O'Roarke's picture is displayed next to the word "douchebag", Irish Bob may have done everyone a favor by publically stating what the non-perpetually clueless have known for a long time.
And it would be nice if we could see more honesty from the Left and quit using the term "universal background checks" in lieu what what is really a gun registry.
