Trump: We Don’t Need Middle Eastern Oil And Gas
Twitter ^ | Sep 16, 2019

Because we have done so well with Energy over the last few years (thank you, Mr. President!), we are a net Energy Exporter, & now the Number One Energy Producer in the World. We don’t need Middle Eastern Oil & Gas, & in fact have very few tankers there, but will help our Allies!

...and that is the bottom line, right there. It ain’t “our gas” that is at stake here. China’s gas and India’s gas maybe but we don’t use it. Unless we are willing to kill every single Iranian we should not even be talking about “War” with them. It’s retarded.

War incorporates a huge spectrum of options. This “war” was completed in a single day:

He's absolutely correct. And he needs to open up all the lands currently under protection from oil exploration as well. (Are we getting oil from ANWR yet?

Freepers have been saying all of this for years. Utilize our domestic resources and let the sponsors of terrorism (Saudi Arabia is #1) go broke. Hence, cut off funding for world wide terrorism.

How many “wars” are we in right now that we don’t seem to be able to “finish”? I am having trouble keeping track. Let’s see there’s Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, is Syria a different war or just Iraq 2.0? Then there is the war that is really taking place in the Philippines that we aren’t supposed to know about. These are just the ones that come to mind with a brief recollection. I suppose if we add Iran to the list we could just “bundle” about all the ME into one larger War we can’t win. I suppose one could make the case by doing so that we are actually REDUCING the number of wars.

I haven't had a chance to follow the current situation as closely as I would like, but I have seen little mention of China. On the trade war front, China is being squeezed, and I think President Trump is heading for a good deal with them. The oil problem will hurt China and make it easier to settle the trade situation.

This “Operation” is actually a better data point for my argument than yours. If that “War” was “over in a day” what are we involved in today? It would seem the Iranians never realized they lost a war back then. When a defeated enemy loses an actual war they can’t deny it.

He is correct that we have few tankers over there, but that is because very few tankers fly the AMERICAN Flag. We should NOT be protecting any commercial ship unless it is flying the AMERICAN flag. Even if the owner is American, the ship should be registered in the US and not some country with a flag of convenience. All oil exported from the US should be on US flag vessels.

MSM is pushing the war hard.

It will take an attack on Israel I would think to make this WWIII.

That’s my take on it. I hear the Saudis can be back up and running in a couple weeks. 5% of the world’s oil production ain’t trivial but a couple week’s dip in production plays to all our strengths and none of China’s.

There are literally millions of police cases we don’t seem to be able to finish, and more coming up every day. That’s the way the world works. Sisyphus comes to mind. Only the dead have seen end of war. Defending the nation’s interests means eternal vigilance. Fall asleep at the switch, as France did, and your country gets overrun, or worse. In the supersonic, ballistic missile and nuclear age, “or worse” is looming large.

IMHO those type of threats (nuclear, ICBM, etc.) are threats governments can make. Seems to me we are living in a transition time in which global corporations actually enjoy more control over events than governments. Google and Facebook don’t want global nuclear war, it would be very bad for business. Regional Wars and Civil Wars are an entirely different matter. They weaken governments thereby relatively strengthening global corporations.

For the same reason you get up in the morning and do the same thing that you did yesterday. There is literally no end to these things. It’s just part of life. In antiquity, we’d simply have gone in, killed all the men and sold the women and children into slavery. The fact that we can’t do this today doesn’t mean they’ve stopped being threats, just like the fact that we can’t hang thieves today means we should stop prosecuting people for stealing.

The price of gas is continuing to drop here in KY. It was 2.19, then 2.17 and this morning it’s $2.15.

Thank you for making my entire point. If we are not willing to commit to “War” we should stop talking about it. Riling folks up to commit to something called war but isn’t ends up a bloody, inconsequential mess. We already have one hole in the ground with 58,000 names on it.

If this attack was real then it’s pretty bold. I hope that all of our forces in the area are on high alert. Sure is strange that right after Bolton “resigned” that this attack took place. What could that mean? Did the Iranians overplay their card and think that with him gone that there would be no appetite for a conflict? I think the Iranians are crazy and they have a history of taking hostages and subverting Iraq and Lebanon. They have worked through their proxies to wreck havoc everywhere from Hamas to Yemen and Hezbollah killing our Marines. I wouldn’t care if a few of their cities got smoked off the map. The only problem is that they have the new anti aircraft missiles from Russia. Better to use cruise missiles and drones.

I’m convinced there are elements within Iran that could guide the country towards a modern civil society but they may never see the opportunity. I think a confrontation is coming soon with the Islamist.

We are in a much better position energy-wise and policy-wise than if this attack had occurred on 0bama’s watch. I can’t comment on China but I am hoping you are right. And there is no need for us to be involved...unless Iran attacks Israel.... but I’m hoping the broader Mideast can step up to their own plate for a change and take care of Iran.
