The whole story is kind of hinky. I wonder if the teacher was getting it on with the student?
Haven’t read the article yet, so just guessing. More likely that the student is a protected minority and the teacher either isn’t or doesn’t have as high a protected minority score.
“I wonder if the teacher was getting it on with the student?”
In this day and age, who knows? But it’d be easy for the student to make some claim to that effect as accusations can go a long way. Maybe he could say she gave him the keys and purse and told him to go out and buy some condoms.
I wonder if the teacher was getting it on with the student?

Why the hell would you even think that!

I taught in inner city high schools for decades. And something like this happened every six months or so. But it was almost always a hot-wiring car theft, or something like that.
But one thing was certain. Administrators would ALWAYS try to cover it up. On-campus crimes lower the schools overall rating. And administrators get bonuses based on those ratings. Gotta keep those ratings up!
Oh, and it was funny how often the surveillence cameras were broken when a crime of any type occurred. I once got into a hell of physical fight with a student who was pushing a little girl around. With the help of another teacher who was built like a linebacker, I won that fight.
The school decided not to file charges against the student. There wasnt enough evidence. All the surveillance cameras in the area were broken.
It is Flint.
And this is the way the Flint police and school districts act.
No one living in the area is especially surprised.
