The single most important fact of Republican life in 2019 is this: The GOP is Donald Trumps party now.
When the GOP chose Trump as its presidential candidate in 2016, traditional Republican conservatives of the Buckley-Goldwater-Reagan school were forced to consider how far they might go to accommodate the ascendant nationalist-populist movement embodied by Trump.
Some of them took a genuinely sympathetic view of Trump partisans who feel left behind by the elite-dominated politics of Washington and hoped to articulate a new class-solidarity synthesis on the right, while others cynically believed that they could simply redirect Trump and Trumpism to their own ends.
All of them miscalculated. The question wasnt whether there was a place for Trump in the Republican Party, but whether there remains a place for the conservatives opposed to him and his agenda.

The base wrestled the party from the RINO elitists....Amen
Hugh is decent....but never forget he likes his mug up and MSNBC and acts accordingly
Continued by Rino Ryan. Congressman Jordan said yesterday, that when they had the House for two years under Trump, Ryan would not allow them to investigate the “coup”. Not one subpoena was served by R Congress to any witness involved in the coup, not allowed by the speaker.
“What do traditional conservatives think of this? Any still left here?”
As soon as you can describe what a “traditional” conservative might be I will either plead guilty or not guilty. The term is far too vague for me to tackle. I “identify” as one who believes the founders got it right and nearly all that has been done since in the way of amendments to the constitution has been in error. All constitutional amendments I have seen proposed recently look like insanity to me. I consider the current democrat party and all who vote for it to be mentally deranged.
Wake up challengers?
Wake up Freepers!! Your anti Republican, obsolete old rants, are noe anti Trump in essence
