Sadly, he must though, because the leftist narrative claims that fascists are rightist, in their never ending quest to redefine terminology.
Whoever defines the terms controls the debate. We need to be better at defining the terms, so they don’t control the narrative, however the left media has this advantage at this time.

Its a lot deeper than just controlling the terminology. Terminology is only a part of the propaganda effort.
The evolution of socialism and ethnic nationalism happens together, resulting it nationalist socialism...which is another historical term for fascism itself.
The problem with just poo pooing the historical evolution of liberal fascism is that we are becoming victims of a creeping totalitarianism of “ideological virtue,” held to be more important than results ( witness high employment, booming economy etc.)
That’s why the liberal fascists hate Trump so much, he cuts through their ideological imagery with factual results, thereby deflating their fascist social constructs completely.
That makes President Trump a very special person . His under-appreciation by America is a shame.
