I would suspect you are correct. There is no comparison with 1984 and Trump. Trump is not restricting freedom, dumbming down language, erasing history or any other things in the book. He is likely just reading a script she was giving by some other person that never read the book either.

I have no idea why she used “1984,” a George Orwell Novel about the type of government control they want to use. My old man used to call that cutting off your nose to spite your face. But I guess with her literary incompetence, using Orwell for anything is a recognition of the failed principles she proclaims the answer. Another book Orwell wrote in 1945, that is another example, was “Animal Farm.” She would have said the same thing using either.
