IIRC there was not one for 4 years prior to Trump taking over.
Yes, the SS increase is sometimes no bigger than the Medicare premium increase. But the ss increase is an increase in the ss benefit, whether or not it is canceled out by a medicare increase.
I have a elder person I know (who I think is stupid), who has canceled his medicare, all of it, to increase the final ss payment, and instead he relies 100% on the VA. I have told him there are private doctors who will take patients on the basis of accepting just what medicare will pay. I have also told him there are private elderly prescription plans that can obtain his meds as cheaply as his VA copays. Maybe he just likes the social aspect of the VA.
Hey, it’s only $150T+ in the RED, what’s a few trillion more IOUs on an illegal, unconstitutional Ponzi scheme, eh?
Sadly, WAY too many “(R)N(C) approved Socialism+” posts bitching/’fixing’ than calling out the elephant in the room
Abolish, nuke & salt it along w/ SS+
“I remember getting zip zilch nada under obama a couple of years 2010 and 2015. The obama admin cola calculations seemed to lean to quite lean cola. “
Not surprised, but it was not Obama. If the inflation factors they use for the SS cola were small those years, so was the ss increase if any, and what increase there was could have been canceled out by a medicare premium increase.
Health care costs HAVE been increasing more than general COLA inflation. But the former feeds into medicare premiums while it is the later that determines the SS cola. SS and the medicare premium are not adjusted by the same factors.
Fauxahontas (IIRC) wants to increase all SS benefits by $200 per month.
These current figures show me getting about a $15 per month next year. My food costs have increase twice that just this year, but food costs aren’t considered. So far, my apt management has not indicated they are going to raise my rent any time soon, but I am paying below market value since I have resided here 10 years.
The area Medicare Advantage plans have actually increased benefits the last couple of years. PCP co-pays have dropped to $0 to $5. Some have $0 generic drugs in 3-month quantities. And mine has a $25/month OTC products allowance at their mail-in pharmacy only.
Looks like I’ll have to delay the yacht purchase another year.
That's enough for a bottle of my favorite bourbon every month.
Yep, happened to us after we sold our Rental Property. A one year blip in Income and boom.
My Medicare Copay went up to $204 a Month instead of the $136 Rate.
I’m still trying to figure out how the Rats think Medicare is “free”. Adding the Copay to my Supplemental and Part D Plan, it costs me about $400 a Month.
Add that to my Wife’s $550 a Month so called Obamacare Plan and we are still spending about $950 a Month for our Healthcare, not including Drug copays. Lets just round it off at $1000 a Month.
My Nam buddy relies totally on VA benefits.
There has been one every year since 1975 except ‘09, ‘10 and ‘15.
I worked for New York State, and they actually reimburse retirees in our pension checks for our Medicare costs. The Feds take it, and the State gives it back. I do pay for my secondary Medical coverage from the State, but since it’s just me, the cost isn’t very much, and they usually only cover my medications, which is fine with me. President Trump’s tax cuts gave me over $2100 back in my pocket this past year.
I share your quandary. What ever will I do with about $11?
Maybe I should increase my monthly donation to FR.
That's an increase of $8.80. Well, there goes my raise of $3.44. I guess I can look at the "bright side"; instead of paying $8.80 (without my raise), I'll be paying $5.36. Oh, well.
