GOP poised to 'undermine 2nd Amendment more than Obama'

If Republicans support a federal “red flag” law and universal background checks they will have done more than President Obama to undermine Second Amendment rights, contends NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch.

“Is that what they want their legacy to be?” she asked in an interview Tuesday night with Tucker Carlson on the Fox News Channel.

The red flag laws, which already have been adopted in 17 states and the District of Columbia, allow police to seize guns from people who haven’t even been charged with a crime if they are deemed a danger to society.

Remind them who they work for. I did recently and probably will be subjected to crickets or a visit by some form of LEO. :-) And, who is the one that "deems" anyone a threat? At this point I wouldn't even trust a "trained professional mental health" person. Heck they're crazier than their patients in some cases.

“GOP poised to ‘undermine 2nd Amendment more than Obama’”

AKA “how to lose an election that’s begging to be won”.

Just so I understand there issue, are background checks unconstitutional? If not, how does that undermine the Constitution? My problem with the background checks is they seemed to have failed in some of these cases and suites not address the issue of illegal guns.

I have heard a red flag law could have a problem with the 14th? amendment. But, I thought Trump was backing away from that idea. Maybe I am wrong.

At the end of the day there will be a lot of bluster on both sides, plenty of finger-pointing, and no real legislation passed.

Alyssa Milano just handed the NRA and the GOP-e the best argument for the 2A.

In her "debate" with Senator Cruz, she admitted she had two guns at home for self defense...for her children.

IF the NRA and GOP-e had any sense, they'd play that clip over and over and over and over and over.

Indeed. Probably 80% of this nonsense is pushed for tv ratings and/or to push campaign donations.

Bingo, you've got it. The Democrats simply want to own this issue with their base. They don't want to actually solve anything. And they sure has hell don't want to give EEEEEEEEVIL Republicans any credit for doing so. Any bill coming out of the House will have poison pills to ensure that its DOA. In a sick sort of way they root for mass shootings to keep happening because in their minds it helps them politically.

Does either side really know what the solution is? Hard to solve anything when you don't.

"...shall not be infringed." Not much wiggle room there. If we hadn't already infringed so much we would have more law abiding citizens sporting their arms. Oh, and fewer would get the vapors when they saw one in public.

how does that undermine the Constitution?

Your neighbor can declare you unfit and call the cops to take your guns. You lose the right of due process, you have no right to fight the charges before they take your guns. You are assumed guilty and must prove yourself innocent, That is Unconstitutional.

Full background checks are now a federal law. They want to keep gun registries so they can go after everyone that own a gun for any reason they want.

There isn’t a person alive who doesn’t know that more gun laws will not stop these terrible events.

George Putnam, the famous newscaster from Los Angeles once remarked, "I never met a psychiatrist who didn't need one."

The background checks involve privacy rights. Yes, the same rights the court held that protect a woman’s right to an abortion. The red flag laws exceed privacy issues and invade the right against unreasonable searches and seizures. They will probably be ruled to be unconstitutional, especially if RBG is replaced.

Any person over the age of 65 can, and probably will, be declared a danger because of the age. Not so accidentally, a great number of weapons in this country are owned by people over the age of 65. Not only will they be deprived of the monetary value of the weapons that would ordinarily be passed on to their heirs, it will be done without a hearing, and on the authority of a “bureaucrat”. Welcome to Germany in the nineteen twenties and thirties.

We shall see. Of course the Jews did not believe that Hitler intended to exterminate them either.

Background checks do not stop a determined crazy person and frequently they are very intelligent individuals.
The shooter that recently killed 7 and wounded 20 in the Midland-Garland Texas area, tried to buy a rifle and was denied due to a mental illness history. He was determined and had the skill to make a rifle in his father’s basement workshop using standard machine tools (lathe, mill, drills, etc.) It wasn’t even the printed stuff the left worries about.

The GOP-e does not want the public to be armed. Her admission should interest the sheep more that the politicians. The Left, Other Side, Socialists, Democrats, or which term you prefer is not interested in getting rid of guns, they just do not want you to have them. But that goes right over the sheep’s head every time.
