Jon Ossoff became an unlikely Democratic star in Georgia. Now, he’s running for Senate.

Months after President Trump’s victory in November 2016, Jon Ossoff mounted a long-shot congressional campaign in a historically red Georgia district — and unexpectedly became a symbol of hope for demoralized Democrats as he racked up millions from small donors. When he narrowly lost one of the most expensive House races in history in June 2017, Ossoff promised to return.

“I launched this campaign believing that America can become stronger, more prosperous and more secure only if we stay true to the values that unite us,” Ossoff wrote in The Washington Post days after his loss. “I still believe that, and I’m not done fighting.”

On Monday night, Ossoff stayed true to that vow, announcing a Senate bid that, if successful, would make him the first Georgia Democrat elected to the position in almost two decades. Ossoff, now 32, will formally launch his campaign Tuesday, telling the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he plans to challenge Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.), whom he called “a caricature of Washington corruption.”

lol? Yeah, wasn’t it funny seeing Romney campaign for Hillary Criminal and her constitution destroying SCOTUS in 2016? What, me worry? Just keep blissfully voting GOP while the Dems swamp the voter rolls and California is your future. Guaranteed.

Damn straight our state is turning purple. Too many Yankees and foreigners moving in are changing the dynamics.

Good luck sounding the alarm. As you see so many have their heads in the sand and don’t want the truth. I grew up in California and saw this invasion movie before. It has a bad ending, obviously.

I know the local Walmart is no longer being overrun by illegals

All you want to do is throw your hands up in the air.

Yes, you sound like a concern troll who is trying to depress the vote.

Conserv - I’ve lived in Cobb county that was once one of the most if not the most conservative area in the US. This great county went blue in 2018 with Lucy lMcBath.

Georgia is purple and going blue. I’m seeing as others have mentioned 100’s of new northern migrants.

I’m sure you will be highly disappointed by the 2020 election results.

Me? I’ll be quite happy.

A Trump win and 2 Republican US Senators.

But, don’t worry, you can then scream the sky is falling for the 2022 elections.

I sounded the alarm about the MARTA tax in January. Used a couple of hundred dollars out of my own pocket for advertising and we beat the Establishment in March.

They are coming back. They will keep pushing, until they win. My son graduates soon and I will sell my house once the new STEM school is built and never look back. Gwinnettians get the government they deserve and voted for.

His chances are equal to those of Tennessee beating Georgia State. 0.

Not sure about his lying. He didn’t live in the district. When questioned he said that it shouldn’t matter and that since he was living with his girlfriend she needed to be closer to school or something like that. The Congressional district he ran in, has been a target for the Dem’s for quite some time. It was Tom Prices old district, but for years, there’s been a concerted effort to flip it. They actually have a website called, Flipthe6th. His parents are Dem donors and they got him a job working for Hank Johnson, of Guam tipping over fame.

Karen Handel barely beat him and now the district is represented by an Anti-gun zealot, in one of the most gun friendly states in the country, who didn’t even live in the state when she ran. She was living in Chattanooga. But the Left got their prize. Of course, all of it is because of all the northerners moving down there. The area has good schools and a bunch of hypocritical liberals, that love liberal policies, as long as the consequences of those policies don’t live anywhere near them.

All the blame lays at the feet of the last two Governors, Deal & Perdue. They did everything they could to lure businesses down there. The businesses showed up and brought their liberal employees with them. Same goes for Florida, Texas, and Tennessee.

It’s hard to argue that. With the amount of liberals moving into all the gentrified areas of Atlanta and around the Beltline, it’s just a matter of time. Kemp winning by 50k votes isn’t enough. Toss in Columbus, Augusta, and Savannah and, like most other states, there’s enough folks in those places to outnumber everyone else.

Of course, I blame it all on Deal and Sonny Perdue, but that’s just me.

It wasn’t a longshot, the district had barely went for Trump so it was obviously going to be heavily targeted.

And he lost, to a woman who was weak enough to get ousted by some gungrabbing female Obama in 2018.
