Jon Ossoff became an unlikely Democratic star in Georgia. Now, he’s running for Senate.

Months after President Trump’s victory in November 2016, Jon Ossoff mounted a long-shot congressional campaign in a historically red Georgia district — and unexpectedly became a symbol of hope for demoralized Democrats as he racked up millions from small donors. When he narrowly lost one of the most expensive House races in history in June 2017, Ossoff promised to return.

“I launched this campaign believing that America can become stronger, more prosperous and more secure only if we stay true to the values that unite us,” Ossoff wrote in The Washington Post days after his loss. “I still believe that, and I’m not done fighting.”

On Monday night, Ossoff stayed true to that vow, announcing a Senate bid that, if successful, would make him the first Georgia Democrat elected to the position in almost two decades. Ossoff, now 32, will formally launch his campaign Tuesday, telling the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he plans to challenge Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.), whom he called “a caricature of Washington corruption.”

An unaccomplished loser like Beto with nothing better to do than run for office.

Get national publicity, all free, millions of dollars and lose.

You are then crowned the future of the Democrats and are heralded with a press release in the Amazon Post..

Yes, you’ve nailed it.

Perdue should crush him.

Laugh, but he will eventually win and so will Stacy (stay away from her when she’s eating) Abrams. They are persistent. They have set their sights (and $$$) on GA and there are almost enough free $hit voters here now to pull it off.

Agree. VA is already gone. NC and GA on the brink due to GOP support of the open borders agenda. A blue wall from Maine to Florida within a decade or two is just about guaranteed. I saw this scenario play out growing up in California. It has a bad ending.

Jon Ossoff?!  The third Kennedy look-alike along with Beto and Buttplug!  What I really liked about him was the supporters he attracted -- like the woman with the Coca-Cola bottle eye glasses!

GA on the brink?

Republicans hold all 13 offices(governor, US senator, etc) that require a statewide election.

California voted for Reagan and Bush. How did that work out for them? The demographic trends in GA are all blue/pinko. It’s just a question of when the state flips for good. Sorry.

I think you’re just being a concern troll and trying to depress the Republican vote.

In 2016, the states that flipped were Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Unlike elected Republicans like Romney I am not campaigning for Democrats. I am just stating the facts at hand. GA is 10% Hispanic and growing. 3rd world immigration to Atlanta is massive. Add in blue state transplants (blacks in particular) and you can easily see GA flipping blue within a decade. Look at CA. This happens fast. You’ve been warned.

You must not live of the Great State of Georgia.

Damn straight our state is turning purple. Too many Yankees and foreigners moving in are changing the dynamics.

I fought and won against a major tax bill for Gwinnett county. I saw first hand how this county is not like it used to be and can’t wait to move out. My son graduates next May and I will sell my house and move shortly after.

GA on the brink?
