After Klinton signed the AWB in 1994 which resulted in the Republicans winning both houses of Congress, he retaliated by siccing the BATFE on the NRA. Every day for both his terms BATFE agents marched into NRA headquarters in Northern Virginia and began harrassing employees to hand over the master membership list.

Agents made threats, said they’d be back with warrants, but the NRA held firm and told their staff to avoid any interaction with the BATFE & to answer any questions with “I have no comment, you’ll have to talk to my supervisor”.

The NRA workplace environment was most unpleasant with armed BATFE agents stalking about, but they never got their hands on the membership rolls.

The NRA surely would have been illegal in East Germany. It's surely illegal in North Korea even today.

Yeah, but I bet it’s coming - none in my family belong just because of that possibility.

“It should be illegal to be a communist while holding office in the US govt...”

Didn’t it used to be, back in the 40s and 50s?

What does that say about Rasmussen to ask that question in that form?

Who cares what democrats think? I exist to piss them off every single day of the year; I shudder to think how many of them I’ve sent scurrying to their ‘safe spaces’ over the last year.

The NRA has beeen largely silent on the signed bump stock ban, the prez calling for red flag rules and whatever gun control package the administration has directed to congress.
I am returning my renewal with a note that they are part of the infringement. Also, I am converting to Gun Owners of America.

There is simply too much infringement coming from the white house.

Couldn’t agree more. The bump stock ban was not a good sign - too much appeasement of the psychos on the left.

Mailing list worries? Wow, that takes me back to the old days. Today, fedgov has demonstrated (on numerous occasions) that it has the capability to eavesdrop on you in countless ways - and probably has a mountain of data on you and your family. Let it go, embrace the horror.

Besides, those harder-core types over at GOA will surely get taken out first. ;-)

I feel that it should be illegal for people to belong to a treasonous organization, such as the Democrat Party. I think I can get more than 28% of the people I poll to agree with that.

The NRA stands for America. The Democrats against. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.

We have the second amendment in case we end up having to cull that 28% to protect the Constitution.

Just saying.

The need for the 2nd Amendment is becoming more and more important.

Does that mean that 72% think it’s ok?

Rasmussen Reports, which is known to lean conservative,

Uhm, no. Stupid lie.

They tell it like it is, not like they want it to be.

All Polls (yes, even the ones we like) are BULLSHIT.

Just depends on who, and how you ask a question.

The irony is they haven’t a clue that their wishes would mean it could also become illegal to be members of Planned Parenthood and the Democrat Party.....or any other org/assoc the Party in power didn’t agree with...they are setting themselves up for a taste of their own sickness-inducing “medicine”

I would be greatly upset but for the fact that this is nothing new. Anyone in the military (or government) who underwent a Background Investigation to receive a Top Secret clearance, as well as a Special BI for higher clearance, had to explain every organization they belonged to or magazine they subscribed to. If the feds smelled anything communist, the clearance was usually denied.
