Papa John's founder John Schnatter's first exclusive since scandal
Fox Business ^ | 9/9/19 | Julia Limitone

Papa John’s founder and CEO John Schnatter, in his first interview since stepping down amid controversy, told FOX Business in an exclusive interview with Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria” that he resigned because he was ready to retire.

...“There's never been any racial slurs," he said. "There has been never been any use of the word. That's probably been the most frustrating. That's not true at all. The call was 52 minutes and it was totally anti-racist. At the very end of the call, I simply stated what it was another founder said in the way he went about using that word. Colonel Sanders calls black people the N-word. I would never call a black person the N-word. It's not the way I was raised.”

...“To put it in context, the most unfathomable, unbelievable thing about this this whole situation is that the old board and the old executive team under [Steve] Ritchie used the black community, used race and the media -- Forbes -- to steal the company and thus destroy the company or hurt the company very badly.”

“In what way,” asked Bartiromo.

“Wall Street's fine [$40 per share to $50 per share] -- good momentum,” he said. “What concerns me is Main Street. Our business is not healthy right now. So that needs to be rectified rather quickly.”

Whatever. I heard he SUED the company for forcing him out. Maybe he is changing his story now.

The article says he is STILL Papa John's largest shareholder.

I quit buying from them after they fired him...

Well he sued to get back on the board - not necessarily get the CEO job back.

Probably?

Scandal???? What scandal?

The only scandalous thing here is what his board and popular opinion did to him.

"Smash and Grab" is a technique to destroy the reputation of companies and to take them over either by buying stock when the price sinks or to oust competitive interests from positions of management or on the Board of Directors. It's destroying the stock market for us little folk, because we don't have the insider knowledge to know what's coming next.

It's totally believable that Papa John was set up.

I ‘quit’ PJs over the NFL BS and the Forcing out of the ‘owner’ was final straw (not necessarily in the order above).

I contend that if YOU own a business (FU BO) it is imperative to keep .50000000000001 of the stock.

Give nothing that would put you under to anyone - wife, family, favorite charity etc etc as one day they ALL may turn on you.

Shaq O’Neill is doing commercials for them now - once a black gives a nod of approval to anything, it vanquishes any hint of racism - things will be fine.......

No ,Cici’s pizza is the worst ever. I once ate the cardboard box by mistake. I thought to myself “Gee this is terrific”. Then I realize what I had done.

#12. Cardboard, lose in calories and taste. Add sauce and some pepperoni.

Tried Little Cesar’s (again) a couple years ago when a new store opened on my travel route to work. So much salt I threw the pizza away and I NEVER throw away a pizza.

Fairly good ones: Ledos when it has a lot of sauce. Had a bite of one the other day that had none. Not happy.
Once in a while, Pizza Hut. They changed their sauce recipe years ago and it became sour and runny. Don’t know if it still is. Haven’t gone back in years.

Dominoes - Right now the best around. I cannot eat anything spicy due to a medical condition so I like their plain hand-tossed or thick crust cheese pizza. Never had a bad one.

Frozen: Sometimes Freschetta has a good one. Paul Newman - fair; DiGornio - plain cheese one is good. California Pizza - white pizza, spinach and cheese/feta.

Papa John’s had a sour cheese, romano or something that killed the taste of the sauce.

However, I’m on Schnatter’s side in this matter. The cowardly liberals caved into the Marxist business-destroying left and they should be ashamed.

The trick to all the chain pizza restaurants (PJ, Dominos, PH, etc) is to order light or extra light sauce. The pizza tastes 10x better after you do that. It’s still not as good as authentic NY style or Chicago style, but for $5-$10 its a helluva good deal and still tastes pretty good, certainly much better than frozen pizza. Their sauces are trash.

Little Caesars used to be edible... was cheap, but edible.

Somewhere along the line they changed their dough, (which is the cheapest thing to make in the first place) and whatever they are now using is completely disgusting. It is on par with pre made crusts at theme parks or cafeterias...

I have no idea what they are thinking up in their corporate HQ... but I can’t imagine they are seeing any same store growth with their current product.

PJ’s is not even close to worst pizza ever...

For a large Chain its actually one of the better ones out there...

No, it won’t touch a good mom and pop pizza shop.. but no chain does...

I will admit I don’t have it often, as we have a great local shop.. but I can say last time I had it, the taste and quality did seem to have gone down from a few years ago. However, its far from the worst pizza ever.
