Florida Sens. Marco Rubio and Rick Scott on Wednesday asked President Trump to waive visa requirements for Bahamians affected by the shattering blow of Hurricane Dorian.
The Republican lawmakers sent Trump a letter outlining their reasoning, citing their state's proximity to and relationship with the Bahamas. They asked Trump to make it easier for citizens of the Bahamas to come to the United States to reside with relatives while they rebuild their lives.

No vacancy deal with it.
Lol..
They’re lawless, we don’t need anymore of that.
We don’t need any more. say where you are and rebuild
They are already there - have been since 1973.

I agree. We expect The Lord to bless us and we throw his Holy Name around like it is trash.
In one of Steven Ambrose's WWII books, he wrote that after gathering all the horrific experiences from the GIs, he asked which people did they most admire.
To his surprise, the majority answered "The Germans". The common thread was that, as they blasted their way through a town, by time they got to the other side, the German citizens behind them were cleaning up the debris.
Bahamas is British. Let Britain deal with those people; NOT OUR JOB!
______________
Like.
I suppose that may be one reason why the Japanese and Germans got along so well— they both like order.
If we let folks from the Bahamas come here it has to be carefully controlled so the temporary visitors don’t become permanent.
There should be a cap on the number of people we let in. And that cap should be a very low percentage. Wikipedia says the 2016 census was 391K. Seems like 30,000 as the number we’ll accept would be very fair.
But no matter the number, the process has to controlled very carefully.
Rubio and Scott are just recognizing the obvious. They are coming here. The alternative for them is to starve. If you oppose it then youll just be made to look bad and theyll end up coming anyway.
Coming here and not going back. There were waivers given to central Americans and Haitians from various natural disasters. I’ll buy you a clue: they never went home. Don’t think if we give away the store the Democrats won’t make a political issue of this anyway. Given an inch and all that applies here 100%.
But no matter the number, the process has to controlled very carefully.
It won’t be and whatever POTUS does he will be critized for it. He’ll get literally no credit.
Freeport was (until now) an excellent cruise port. The people are very nice, and the tourism offerings provide for a very nice day.
It's not our job. But we've gathered the supplies in anticipation of a US hurricane hit, so it just makes sense to supply them. Bahamians are appreciating the help more than PR has. Another source of aid is a cruise ship which is providing food and supplies and ferrying people to safety.
It's the overall situation we should be concerned with. Venezuela is still in chaos, the Amazon is burning, and nothing is happening that makes Central America more livable. It's past time for the US to bring home the troops from all over the world and re-direct our resources to making the Caribbean, Central America, and South America livable. Unless/until that happens, we cannot save the US from the chaos surrounding us.
No. No waivers. How’s that rebuilding of Mexico Beach, Florida coming along? Where did those people go? Answers: Very slow and nowhere.
Exactly. I wouldn't have much of an issue with a bit of logistical support, but other than that, it's strictly a Brit problem.
Yes.
Oh hell no
Where?
Cruise ships to FL, I’ve read. Perhaps elsewhere by now.
