A University of California-Los Angeles professor is calling not only for gun control but also qualifications to freedom of speech in order to combat mass shootings fueled by racism, a phenomenon he says has only come to light since President Donald Trumps election.
UCLA professor Douglas Kellner states that until just two years ago, all of the previous shootings were rather divorced from sociopolitical factors, claiming that while mass shootings occurred in the past, they were the results of individual crises of young men, having to do with things such as family life or school trouble, in an interview published by the university.
Kellner asserts that the phenomenon of mass shootings motivated by racist ideas is largely isolated to instances occurring since Trump's election.
The toxicity of gun culture has created a new factor that we have never seen before, that was a major factor in the last few shootings, and that was the election of Donald Trump, and in particular, Trumps rhetoric [on immigrants], Kellner said, adding there havent been particular racist school shootings before, or acts of domestic terrorism.
The professor goes on to state matter-of-factly that the El Paso shooting was completely different from any of the other acts of domestic terrorism [or] school shootings, because it was targeting Latinos and immigrants.

We really should calexit if there is still time.
So much money poured into the Leftist cesspools of academia.
But he probably believes the right to abortion is absolute, even though it is not mentioned in the constitution.
He also doesn’t see the 8th Amendment as absolute, which is why I see the 2nd as absolute.
“Congress shall make no law...” is an ABSOLUTE prohibition.
So is “...shall not be infringed.”
I’d bet big money that the professor sees the “rights” to abortion, and to vote, and criminalize discrimination, as absolute rights...even though two of those are not enumerated in the Constitution, and voting was viewed by the authors of the Constitution as a privilege that could be granted or denied as the legislature saw fit.
One of the best reasons to cut education subsidies is that it cuts funding to commies.
In fact the right to free speech is not absolute where the excersise thereof would cause physical harm to others.
An oft used example would be shouting “FIRE!” (when none exists) in a crowded movie theatre.
The right to bear arms is also limited in certain ways such as age, criminal background, etc.
The first and second amendments are absolute. Misuse is not an exercise of these rights.
Misuse of either should be harshly punished..
But the moment you try and modify/restrict/censor anything this clowns says, he’ll be going nuts. Typical liberal hypocrite.
If the US Constitution is so problematic- why should UCLA continue to receive Federal funding for research grants?
All these amendments were written by dead white men, so nobody in Calexico needs to pay any attention to them. :-(
Many dont see school funding as an absolute.
I assume he thinks Roe v. Wade is absolute.
I am so sick of the left blaming Trump and his “rhetoric” for their extreme hatred and anger which fuels much of the political violence out there. This out-of-control hate is in the left’s heads and they will not accept responsibility nor will they try to quiet it. I think they relish the “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” although they do not call it such, because the wilder their anger, the more “cred” they get from the left. It is truly deranged.
The limits are only fairly recent do not fall into that trap.
One can carry the word fire with them all the time and use it when needed.
The miss use is what is punished not the word itself.
I am unbelievably offended!! This professor must stop talking or lose his job. And I demand the federal government, through the FBI and ATF, to enforce my demand by using force, if necessary, so this professor stops talking. His right to free speech is not absolute.
JoMa
I don’t see universities as absolute. Stop funding communist indoctrination centers with our money.
Somebody left the padded cell door open.
“The right to bear arms is also limited in certain ways such as age..”
Er..Wut?
