Most college athletes are not going to have a career on a pro team (whether basketball, football, baseball or whatever) so they should be taking the opportunity to get a good education. That may mean attending a majority white college.

Of course many college athletes, white and black, never complete their degrees after their eligibility is up.

Democratic Party segregationists rear their ugly head again.

The Party of race baiting, since its inception.

Okey doke with me. Let those schools return to their original prime directive — education.

No more low-achieving jocks in the academic classrooms? Um...what’s the downside?

That was 1962..a kinder gentler time. Pr9bably the last white player as well as the first.

I agree that it should be about getting the opportunity of an education and in fact most student athletes that don’t go pro have improved in finishing their degrees over the recent years compared to decades ago where it was a complete laughing stock. It’s just silly to self segregated just to put a thumb in the nose of whoever. If you want to go to HBCU then go for it...if you want to go to a “white” school then do it but this resist the white people mentally is plain dumb

Should the day come, and I think it will, that college athletes get paid for their "service", the now historically black colleges will become the new football & basketball powerhouses.

That would surprise me. Grambling would have a hard time competing with Ohio State in fundraising.

The NCAA is primarily set up to keep small colleges from competing with the "names," and to keep a semi-lid on player payments. There are Alabama auto dealers that would hire athletes to be "test drivers" for new Dodge Chargers, and pay them a monthly stipend. Once the lid blows off of paying players, college football will break down to 12-15 super teams and a second tier.

Sweet, they will be able to save billions on separate buildings for remedial classes, separate dorms so the real students dont have to listen to hip hop at volume 11 at 3am, or separate ceremonies so the families of the real students dont have to be subjected to screaming or hair trigger brawls

If the door opens to paying athletes, working out how they are "fairly" paid, will be the least of their problems.

Some do, but anyone who's major is "Sports and Leisure Activities," or "Kinesiology" is majoring in staying eligible.

Maybe at black colleges they have a better chance to learn the truth about the history of the Democrat party and the KKK.Many great leaders went to black colleges like Ida B Wells.

When I was in graduate school the student paper had a story about a couple of athletes who had intervened to stop a mugging. One of them was related to me—I could tell because he had a very rare surname and everyone with the name is descended from a common ancestor who died in Virginia in 1798. I never met him. He was on the track team and I think left without a degree.

Where are from that is so superior to Alabama and South Carolina? Both of these states have much to offer and are actually very scenic states with varied topography (i.e. Appalachian Mountains to beautiful coastlines.)

What an ignorant remark!

If black athletes leave “white” colleges, then about 90% will have to leave sports because there are nowhere near enough historically black colleges and amateur leagues to absorb them all. And some of them would squeeze out many of the black athletes currently at black colleges.

It sounds like this chip on her shoulder bigot is perfectly at home with separate but equal, but then again the left has always been for segregation.

I don’t get it, how do these people go through life with their race occupying their every thought of the day? I have conversed with black conservatives and in some cases it’s race-race-race even with them. I wanted to say get a life, the world for the most part doesn’t care about your color and if I have to treat you different because of your color rather than just another human being I’d rather not fool with you as you need to get your head right and out of the racial kool-aid bottle.
