Texas Republicans are sounding the alarm as Democratic presidential candidates get ready for their debate next week in Houston, warning that the Lone Star State could become more purple if the party doesn’t treat it as a 2020 battleground.
Most in the GOP are confident President Trump will win Texas and its 38 electoral votes next year, and they think Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn will turn aside his Democratic challenger.
But they are worried they will lose more House seats a cycle after Democrats clawed back two districts as they retook their majority.
Five House Republicans have retired, including three in seats targeted by Democrats. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates them as either tossups or lean Democratic.
More broadly, Texas Republicans say the GOP can’t rest on its laurels in a state that is growing more competitive.
“We need all hands on deck and all Texans to pull together to make sure we don’t let the Democrats put an end to the longest successful run in Texas history,” said James Dickey, the chairman of the Texas Republican Party.

“There’s a lot of apathy and smugness and laziness here on the Republican side that’s got to be reversed or there will be a shock to the system at some point,” said George Seay, a Dallas businessman and top GOP fundraiser in Texas.
Demographics are slowly but surely changing the state as an influx of voters from California and other left-leaning states move to Texas.

Any Republican who would fail to vote because of something Cruz said deserves his fate. How could anyone be dumb enough to punish the state — no, the nation — with Beto because Cruz was, at the time, having a feud with Trump?

At the (gag) La Raza conference in Cali (predated 2014 midterms)---then-Cong Luis (Dimwit-Ill) vengefully threatened Republicans---intimating hate-filled latinos would make sure they never win another presidency.

La Raza President, and chief America hater, Janet Murguia, told attendees that it sickened her to hear Americans chanting USA.She accused protesters of having "cloaked their hatred in patriotism" by shouting "'USA! USA!' again and again. It made me angry," she said. "In fact, I was outraged."
Murguia demanded amnesty and said the road to the White House for Republicans goes through the Latino community and La Raza. She also said Republicans who want to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will not get Hispanic votes.

Going into 2014 midterms, taking cues from their Central American handlers, organized latino pressure groups were heaping scorn upon those opposed to amnesty---assorted latino pressure groups threatened Republicans with extinction, they rallied around Democrats---saying "the latino vote was going to destroy Republicans."
REALITY CHECK--AMNESTY-SUCKING DEMOCRATS DROWNED IN A SEA OF RED ---2014 MIDTERM results evidenced not a single state, local or political entity claiming victory w/ latino votes.
AMNESTY-LOVING DEMOCRATS DROWN IN A SEA OF RED 2014 was a tsunami that submerged AMNESTY-SUCKING DEMOCRATS in waves of defeat. Democrats who ran on amnesty were soundly defeated.
Fox's Britt Hume said the latino vote was not even a factor. Republicans won historic one-for-the-books elections---from sea to shining sea.
Back then Texas Democrats were more conservative than most Republicans.
Quit sounding the alarm Texas and get your RINOS off their duffs to do something about it instead of everyone merely wringing their hands.

And then went all over the place trying to lure businesses to Texas and went on to list all the great things they’d be getting. His developer friends lined up and slammed up subdivisions, parks, baseball & soccer fields, strip malls and everything else. He promised Texans that there would be jobs, jobs, and more jobs. What did he get? The companies moved. And all their liberal and Democratic employees moved with them. They flooded the already, Blue cities and surrounding suburbs and now you have a complete Sh*t Show, where insane liberals and Democrats in DFW/Austin/Houston, etc are going to dictate what goes on in that state.
Unfortunately, the Governors of Georgia, Tennessee(Nashville is done now that Amazon is headed there, Chattanooga & Knoxville not far behind), Florida, North Carolina(been done for a while now), and now possibly South Carolina, did the same things and now all those states are starting to reap what they have sown.
The folks from up North or out West don’t want to assimilate into the Southern/Texan lifestyle. They don’t like the flag. They don’t like F250s. They don’t like guns. The don’t like being, at least, somewhat self sufficient.
What do they want? They want a house, 2x the size of the one they moved out of - for half the price, lower taxes(although they’re all going up), better weather, new schools(filled with the same leftist garbage), new baseball and soccer fields. They don’t care about patriotism in the town square, deer season, turkey season, they don’t like to see a deer head mounted in the local barber shop. They want the life they left behind, but cheaper.
What do they get? They get the big house in the swin/tennis community. But then they get ever increasing taxes. They get more and more traffic as the roads and infrastructure can’t keep up with the developers slamming up subdivision after subdivision. They get 2-hour commutes and the realization that not everything is included in their taxes and that they have to get their own trash service. But they tire of that and push to have that included in their taxes, which raises taxes and then the cycle starts all over again.
Trump will probably be our last republican president. I don’t have much hope beyond the next couple elections.
Look for Texas cities to trend Republican in the next few cycles and that will make the entire state GOP.

Another note....Hey, Texas republican party!! How bout acting like conservatives rather than the lukewarm, moderate, milk toast politicians that you are.
Texas has a Super Majority in the State Gov and they can’t fix this?
Stop listening to Rove and Bush and listen to voters.
