CNN’s Presidential Climate Change Town Hall Was Insane
The Federalist ^ | 5 Sep 2019 | David Harsanyi

Posted on 09/05/2019 11:09:16 PM PDT by Rummyfan

Put it this way: the most benign climate-change plan proposed during CNN’s seven-hour Democratic Party presidential candidate town hall was more authoritarian than anything Donald Trump has ever suggested during his presidency. Democrats were not merely proposing massive societal upheaval but mass coercion.

CNN says it’s a “crisis,” though, so Democrats were free to offer one insane Nostradamus-like prediction after the next. Not only is every weather event now a manifestation of global warming, but Beto O’Rourke says our communities will soon be “uninhabitable,” and Pete Buttigieg says the challenge of warming is on par with World War II, a conflict that took more than 400,000 American lives and tens of millions of others.

None of this hysteria, as far as I can tell, was challenged during those seven hours.

As Joel Pollak notes, at this point climate change “is primarily experienced as a mass hysteria phenomenon,” a collective illusion of a massive threat. Just listen to audience members earnestly asking questions based on the risible premise that we’re on the brink of extinction. It’s really one of the tragedies of our age that so many anxious young people have been brainwashed into believing they live on the cusp of dystopia when, in fact, they’re in the middle of a golden age — an era with less war, sickness, poverty, and suffering than any in history.

anxious young people

That's what they look like when encountering people wearing MAGA hats. If they think the world is ending, they should just kill themselves and solve everyone's problem.

The major cities WILL soon be uninhabitable. But that is due more to democrat corruption and misrule than climate change.

A lot of young people who don’t know any better will vote to destroy their own future - the communists they will vote for (and their Islamist allies) will bring nothing but war, sickness, poverty, and suffering.

The same people who feel devastated if their neighborhood store ran out of the latest iPhone may soon know what it is like to stand in line for 12 hours for a few slices of stale bread.

Leftist insanity is far more dangerous to any nation than the fantasy climate change unicorn.

Every single one is literally certifiable. They all belong on mandatory Thorazine treatment in a controlled environment for the rest of their natural lives for being so bat guano crazy. They know it too which is why they want weed legalized. It makes them “feel” less crazy when they use it.

They are taking crazy to competition levels now. I think Franky O’Rookie is winning the nut case contest right now but he has lots of good competition.

As someone said, the longer a fake news stays without it being debunked, the more believable and entrenched it becomes. Hollywood fantasy has become the alter reality these idiots live in.

Any of these media head is no better than an angry 12 year old troll on facebook giving people crap, and masses of people and businesses drink this media garbage like it is mother’s milk.

The most sane proposal was to increase gas prices to $20/gal. I wonder what would happen if the voters understood this?

Speaking of WWII, there must be a “blip” somewhere from five years of conflict, and anthropomorphic warming.

We *are* on the brink of extinction, if we implement the left's ideas. Many proposed "solutions" to global "climate change" are dangerous and can lead to global extinction if not averted. Carbon dioxide is literally the building material of life, and the quantity of it in the atmosphere is already very low and significantly less than it was in the early days of earth life. Right now, it is at a level slightly above that which plants can pull from the air to convert to biomolecules. Any less, and plants will start dying. And other life will follow.

They are insane indeed. But I think we shouldn’t write them off by assuming that any normal human being would recognize their insanity and thus wouldn’t dream of voting for them and their crazy, dictatorial “green” plans. They are being magnified by the press and all opposition is stifled by the press to the extent where it looks like there is no opposition.

I think we’ve really got to take this threat seriously and be vocal in combatting it. Trump is doing what he can...for example, taking CA to court over its imposition of ridiculous fuel efficiency restrictions in conflict with national requirements. But he needs to get more support in Congress and more public support overall.

And who will those young people blame when it all falls apart?

The Republicans, of course.

The Democrats haven’t tried to ruin this country by accident. it is all a huge growing con on poor people of any color. They destroy everything and tell you they can fix it for a price.

I work at a university that is using Bill McKibben’s Falter as a common read for incoming freshmen. He’s also been invited to the campus to speak. He’s quoted as saying the human being is coming to the end of its existence. Image the impact this kind of hogwash has on impressionable young people who already have high rates of suicide, drug use, etc. It’s child abuse.
