U.S. Border Patrol agents seized over 1,200 pounds of marijuana in a single incident.
Late Monday evening, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Special Operations Detachment working near Fronton, Texas, observed several subjects carrying bundles of narcotics across the Rio Grande. As agents approached, the smugglers abandoned the bundles and fled to Mexico. A search of the area resulted in the seizure of over 1,200 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated street value of $979K.
Additionally, over the past three days, agents stopped five marijuana smuggling attempts resulting in the arrest of six narcotic smugglers and the seizure of over 930 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $745K.
Border Patrol will process all subjects accordingly.

Funny part is I read an article a while back that said Colorado pot stores have a hard time keeping enough pot on hand for demand and the vendors buy Mexican pot and blend it to make the supply go farther. If that is true that would seem to actually increase demand for smuggled dope from Mexico.
I did a search.
“Kine” is the Hawaiian word for “excellent”.
Most people thought that. I didn’t think it would make a dent in the cartels because they are very diversified. They make money on human trafficking and smuggle every drug now not just pot. If pot had become legal before the cartels were allowed to get so organized and powerful I think that would have worked to solve a lot of the border issues. That was decades ago. Now the only thing that will work is a wall and strict enforcement of all of our laws.
The other issue is there are claims that it is hard to keep supply up with demand in areas where it is legal and some vendors are mixing Mexican pot in with other to make it go farther.
Hah, I did not know that.
Makes sense though. First kine I ever smoked was when I was about 21-22, purely yellow weed, it was Acapulco Gold. I’ll never forget it, never came across it again.
No, they don’t.
That wouldn’t fly for one second with anyone who knew what they were looking at.
Seems risky though for a business that is being closely monitored to mix in illegal weed.
Ah for the good old days of the 1970s when Mexican pot was laced with Parquet weed killer!
I still remember adds on Los Angeles TV offering a testing facility for pot.
Their bosses might have taken care of that for them losing that much pot.
That sounds about as bad as lacing weed with nicotine!
I have seen Mexican weed laced with pcp though. Don’t want none of that.

Heck Paraquat was such a big issue that one of the local L.A. Rock DJ’s took on the name = Patrick “Paraquat” Kelly. He was with legendary and now gone KMET.
Maybe we should just charge the cartels a tarrif and hen use the money to build the wall. All smuggled amJ can only be sold in states that legalized it.
You rang..??
I’m really kind of surprised they still smuggle pot into this country.
They should have gone further west and crossed into New Mexico, where Governor Lujan is doing all she can to protect the Cartel mules, (and any other illegal alien invaders)
“Im really kind of surprised they still smuggle pot into this country.”
At almost a million dollars for 1,200 pounds, they are getting over $800 a pound - better than growing avocados.
It is still criminalized in most of the country, so there’s a market.
Drug warriors don’t want to hear that kind of crazy talk.
Locally grown here in Oregon can’t get rid of it at $300 a pound. Market has crashed
