This is really testing my faith almost beyond all limits. I attended Catholic school, then, in college, I just stopped attending church (my agnostic phase). Forty years later, after my wife of 30 years died and I moved here and retired, I went back after a long talk with the priest. And now this! I think the article linked did not provide the total details. There is a recent book that indicates many in the Catholic Church in the US want him to step down. I don’t think it goes beyond the fact that Pope Francis is not popular with a large part of the Catholic Church in the U.S., the part that actually goes to Mass and has traditionally supported the Papacy financially, i.e Peter’s Pence which is a collection that goes straight to Rome and help Papal initiatives like Mission work in poorer countries, etc. I for one quit giving to it.
Well at least Che Francis has put to rest the idea of Papal Infallibility.
