President Donald Trumps tariffs have created the perfect storm at the wrong moment for the housing industry, California builders say.
The California Building Industry Association estimates tariffs have driven up the cost of an average-size new home by $20,000 to $30,000.

Yes, there were many law suits regarding Chinese drywall in California installed in the 2000-2005.
There were also people bringing in trim boards with lead paint on them from China.
When we were doing 2.4 million in housing starts in 2004-5 they would use anything to build with. People learned their lesson.
$20,000 is rounding off error for the price of a home in CA.
The price in Los Angeles/ Orange county / San Fernando valley is over $650,000 and that is a fixer upper. Small yard too with neighbors staring into your property and vice versa.
