On the lighter brighter side, Bill Clinton made a bundle going over there and giving ‘speeches’.... He was right at home with that level of corruption.

That is probably the article I remember - where some African president says to stop sending us your crap leftover clothing from Goodwill, and let us make our our clothing. (Which will create jobs, and wealth to buy the clothing, etc.)

I recall a speech of Nixon’s on what he regrets most about Watergate. He regrets that he didn’t get to work on several projects - one of which was to create some sort of organization to help Africa develop their way of governing, along with increased incentives for American firms to help produce things in Africa.

I think he wanted to do similar in South America.

I read something similar.

It makes me very sad :-(

It seems to be true, and thus we have an understandable case for white-mans-burden.

SA was much better off under British rule...although Britain had some thing to be ashamed of, much as in India.

She’s blaming their governments for their lack of success.
What is the excuse for not having success here?

Best I can tell it is a genetic problem that predisposes the inhabitants to abuse of their fellows including slavery and genocide, too many children for the resources of the parents, jealousy, greed and envy giving rise to huge chips on the inhabitants shoulders, traditional animistic and other religions, tribal beliefs, a strong tendency to scam instead of work and crushing ignorance that never gets any better in spite of just about any effort to the contrary.

Sounds like South Chicago, Philly, Baltimore, Atlanta, Detroit, etc. I wonder what the connection is? Must be democrats.

There is also the problem of rampant graft and corruption but we have that here but are more white collar and genteel about it. We call some of it political contributions, PAC support and lobbying.

That’s a fabulous essay, ringing of truth.

Without non-Africans helping, I’ve read, the population of Africa would be only 30 million.

When the Romans were building aqueducts, indoor plumbing, ports, and massive buildings, the Africans were living in single story mud huts and couldn’t even invent the wheel.

Another factor:

- All the competent ones leave, leaving behind the incompetent.

“So that leaves only one response, and it’s a brutal one: accept that we are powerless to change Africa, and leave them to sink or swim, by themselves.”

Yep.

“All we should do is make sure that none of Africa gets transplanted over to the U.S., because the danger to our society is dire if it does. “

A bit late for us. Europe doesn’t know the trouble they’re buying themselves by letting so many africans come into their “camp of the saints”.

Is there ANY majority black neighborhood or city in thr world that is either low crime or not poor?

There are some very upscale enclaves of blacks dotted around the country -- most just outside major urban centers.

I'm familiar with the ones in the SoCal and Dallas areas. I hear the ones outside Atlanta are even wealthier.

I suspect the north-east has some too, but I'm less familiar with that area of the country.

Reason #1: The USA keeps giving them cash which is stolen/ diverted to whatever tribe is in power to attack the tribe which was just recently thrown out. AD nauseum.
