FBI: West Texas gunman ‘was on a long spiral of going down’
Associated Press ^ | September 2, 2019 | PAUL J. WEBER and JAKE BLEIBERG

FBI special agent Christopher Combs said Ator called the agency’s tip line...making “rambling statements about some of the atrocities that he felt that he had gone through.” “He was on a long spiral of going down,” Combs said. “He didn’t wake up Saturday morning and walk into his company and then it happened. He went to that company in trouble.” ...Ator had previously failed a federal background check for a firearm, said John Wester, an agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Wester did not say when Ator failed the background check or why.

And the photo of Ator obviously stoned?

It was a mug shot. The photo is attributed to the Texas Department of Public Safety there (URL above).

Just like the others--drugs!

“he didn’t go thru a background check for the gun he used in Odessa.”

This leads me to believe that the gun was illegally obtained by a cash-only sale. Until they come out with why and when he failed a firearm background check, I’m going to assume this to be the case.

His reported criminal record was from a misdemeanor “tresspassing” charge.

There are probably some pro-life protesters who've been charged with same crime stemming from a protest.

Is it enough to fail a background check?

Or was he a meth user as has been unverifiably reported?

The question is: When did he convert to Islam? Nobody in the media wants to talk about this. People tell me his attack had all the markings of being muzzy terrorism.

Awaiting publication of his TOXICOLOGY report.

If I miss it, I hope a FReeper posts disclosure of it here so I can say "I was right" about ANOTHER mass shooter being a POT HEAD, at a minimum.

Not all pot smokers are mass shooters, but are most mass shooters POT SMOKERS? Tucker Carlson seems to think so, too.

Private transfers without licensed dealers as intermediaries are legal in many states. Even where that is not legal, though, criminals or addicts can and often do buy firearms illegally.

I’m more interested in the reason for his failing a background check to buy a firearm. It seems that there may be an unpublished criminal record, an adjudication of mental unfitness, an admission on a 4473 form that he was using a narcotic (e.g., marijuana) or another related reason.

>>The photo is attributed to the Texas Department of Public Safety<<

I’d say it’s probably a drivers license photo. In Texas you get your license at the DPS office.

The DPS will arrest you, but they don’t book you into jail or take a mug shot, they hand you over to whatever county you are in, so if it were a mug shot, it would probably be attributed to a county sheriff or city police department.

I know the FBI is on a spiral of going down, not investigating big tech CEOs persecuting Chinese dissidents at the orders of Beijing terrorists...

Is the FBi hidding something? They usually use these dorts of circumstantial vague explanations for something they are tied with.

"Not all pot smokers are mass shooters, but are most mass shooters POT SMOKERS? Tucker Carlson seems to think so, too."

Oh, yeah! Nearly all prison inmates have smoked pot, and nearly all meth heads have smoked pot. Everyone knows that. And look at the increases in frequency and violence of "road rage" over the past 20 years or so. ...and many other increases in particular types of crimes.

It's true that not all druggies have committed crimes, but the increased tendencies are certainly there. People who increase serotonin and dopamine in their brains with drugs eventually feel bad all of the time, especially when they're not under the influence. Many of them become enraged.

Granted, that effect often takes years to amount to much rage/mania and depression alternating in potheads. But that's what makes marijuana so insidious.

Zombies!

He called the FBI because he was losing it. So, what did they do about it? They are too busy trying to prove Trump is a Russian spy and covering up their coup attempt.

F-troop on the job again.

So, the police in the feds knew all about this guy, even him attempting to buy a gun illegally. Yet no intervention, no prosecution, they only pathetically admit after he has gone berserk. Too typical.

I like Carlson. I watch his show. But smoking weed doesn't make one angry and spoiling for a fight. It just doesn't work on the neuro system that way. Now booze, yeah, that'll get a person riled up.

Not so sure about that. Both St. Skittles & the Gentle Giant were heavy weed users and may have been high at the time they stupidly attacked armed men.
